Both are basic OVA fluff. If you can get them on the cheap, then go for it. They are both pretty entertaining.

Just curious.

Sorry, I meant to respond to this. I haven't seen this version, but it follows the same folk tale as Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East and Fuse: Memoirs of a Huntress. Minus the bishonen factor of the former and more 90's ish artwork than the latter.
[Unless it's no longer available, I'd say if you're into Japanese folk tales and legends and it isn't going for much, I would buy the series.]

Assemble Insert is a nice short ova that lampoons a lot of stuff.

Thanks, I will see how much they are.
I noticed at one HPB the Hakkenden thing was $3 (for 13 episodes), at another (near work) it's $19.99.

Oh!
I had been meaning to comment on that. ( on dog warriors)
Are you talking about the one that was released by Pioneer/geneon ?
For you, I'd say pass, it's a very dry adaptaion, and some of the episodes are just fugly.
Haven't seen Asemble Insert, but I have seen Sorcerer on the Rocks.
For that one I'd say go for it.
It's only two episodes but it was fun to watch.

I just watched Sorcerer On The Rocks, and found it to be quite boring; but your mileage may vary.

Yeah it's the Pioneer/Genenon show.
The other (more recent) anime is called Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East.
This is Hakkenden: The Legend of the Dog Warriors

While I liked Samurai 7, I didn't like Peacemaker.
I like Samurai Champloo, but not Samurai Gun.
Also didn't like Samurai Deeper Kyo, but liked Jubei-Chan The Secret of the Lovely Eyepatch.
