They've got Shana, any hope for Fate & Familiar?

Harumph. It seems that my thread with the exact same title was either overlooked or ignored. :P So be it. I shall assume that the other thread will be locked or deleted, and repost my requests here.

Only Yesterday and Ocean Waves (Ghibli titles never released here)
Gosick
Dennou Coil
Maison Ikkoku
Cardcaptor Sakura (the uncut, subbed Geneon version, if nothing else)

Note: most of these are repeats from previous years' posts.

Familiar Zero: Final Season (sub only) has already been acquired by Sentai. The rest will most likely be acquired by them as well. Funimation has stated many times (as so did I), that this title bombed when they were distributing it for Geneon.

The Fate series is up in the air. Funimation hasn't said anything and I don't know how well it sold.

Here's a full list of licenses that Funimation have but haven't been released yet.

So this is the official one, huh? Well, I guess I should, once again, put down my list:
Ring ni Kakero 1 [All 4 Seasons]
Tohai Densetsu Akagi: Yami ni Maiorita Tensai
Kaiji [Both Seasons]
Eat-Man & Eat-Man '98

Anf here's hoping that 2012 will have more titles that are "not [Nozomi's] norm", if one of the Dark Lord's hints is any indication.

Hi Animefangirl21. That's quite a list. I took a perusal of MAL based on it. I'm interested in When Seagulls Cry due to it's affiliation with Higurashi. Alice In the Country Of Hearts piqued my interest because of my love of anything Lewis Carrol. However, I have no excuse for my interest in what I found regarding Nyanpire The Animation. My interest was purely whimsical with this one. I'll be happy if it marks Gonzo's triumphant return to the stage as one of the reviews suggested. It does have the scent of a revolutionary anime. I might keep my eyes peeled for this one, despite it not meshing with my usual tastes. Being open minded expands my world of anime, but shrinks my wallet.

How do companies even make a profit off these animes they get a hold of? I've seen the list on ANN with how much ADV spent on 29 of there titles. Some where over $500,000. To break even on a title, you would have to sell nearly 7,000-13,000 units to break even. I doubt they even print that many off.

Well, you have to consider that those licenses were acquired back during the end of the "bubble era", when licensing costs were being driven up to ridiculous amounts due to bidding wars, inflated expectations, etc. Then you also have to consider dubbing costs, since ADV dubbed nearly everything they licensed, and you can just imagine that number getting higher.

Nowadays licensing is actually at one of its lowest points. A translator for CrunchyRoll even admitted that the highest amount he knew of a recent license amounted to roughly $8,000-$12,000 per episode. Kurau cost about $500,000 back then, but now a show of a similar length could potentially be licensed for roughly $208,000-$312,000 at most, if the high-price range the translator admitted is truly on the highest-side of licensing costs right now.

For example, I wouldn't be surprised if Nozomi got all of Aria the Animation (by "all" I mean every single bit of it, not just one season) for just a little more than what Kurau cost ADV, at most.

Again...I ask, how do they make their money back? It's a high cost amount, you still have to sell a lot of units to break even. I just don't understand how they make a profit.

There are too many uncertainties, since we don't have actual numbers (sales, production costs or individual license fees) for the newer titles.

The numbers you gave were from a shady side of business, where even Quarkboy from Fandom Post (a translator that works directly with the Japanese companies) said that the prices are way too high. Many of the low end titles are far far less than those prices.

Most titles usually just break even or are slightly in the red. However, there are a few titles that really rake in the cash and that's where they make their profit. Funimation continues to make huge profits on the DBZ license, while Sentai noted that several of their titles (High School of the Dead, Angel Beats, Clannad, Princess Resurrection) have made decent or large profits.

Re: Nozomi Entertainment Licensing Suggestions & Requests - 2012 - 02/22/12 11:35 PM

And as titles RightStuf should get...how about recusing the fully dubbed version of Card Captor, it was fully aired in other English speaking counties. And other shows, like Rave Master (seeing as Fairy Tail is a hit), Monster Rancher (again, all 3 seasons showed in other English speaking countries), and maybe you can work a deal with Nelvana to get Beyblade and the rest of Metabot released.

Ah, not to forget Digimon and Zoids...I find it depressing that Digimon hasn't been put out. Granted, these are mostly animes for younger people and kids. I still feel as if they should be put out there for the people grew up on that sort of stuff.

I'm not very informed when it comes to such matters. When I post in any of the "licensing request" type topics, I'm simply pining for anime that I would love to see released on DVD. I post my requests in hopes that any company (preferably TRSI) will hear my pleas. If nothing else, I at least get the inside scoop from those (much) more informed than me such as joelgundam01. Once again, thanks for all the hard facts joelgundam01; it's much appreciated by kiku.

Oh yeah, and it sure would be nice if Blood+ got a box set style release; and Blood The Last Vampire for that matter.

I just love to watch Nanako, this is my favorite picture of her.
Like all of my Anime, and a lot of my Live Action, I condense them when I can.
The same goes for my more Adult Anime as well.

All my Mature Titles that are one and two Disc in duration are all bundled together into DVD cases
With a 6 disc capacity.

I used this picture of Nanako for the Front Cover of my Mature Collection 7

With RightStuf, do they order all this anime? Or do the anime companies just use them as a storage unit and RS pays them whenever something gets sold? They have a lot of stuff on the store, something tells me they don't pay up money for it all.

Re: Nozomi Entertainment Licensing Suggestions & Requests - 2012 - 03/16/12 08:53 PM

I joined this forum last year solely to make an impassioned plea for one of my favorite anime franchises, one that is been very largely ignored in the United States: Cutey Honey. Here it is, 2012, and I am returning to post exactly what I posted before:

Cutey/Cutie Honey was created by the legendary Go Nagai and is one of very few anime adapated from Nagai's work to never be fully brought to the United States. While there was a release of the Shin Cutey Honey OVA series (8 episodes from 1994) and the 2004 live-action movie, the "main" anime series of this franchise have been largely ignored.

Cutie Honey was originally a 25-episode series, aired in 1973 and 1974. This series is generally considered to be one of the original magical girl series. The series was released on DVD in Japan in 2004 (a five disc box set featuring all 25 episodes and the original pilot film). This classic series has never been released in the US in any fashion.

Shin Cutey Honey was an 8-episode OVA series released in 1994. While this is the only Cutey Honey animated series to make its way to the US, it is out of print these days. The previous translation could also use some serious updating. This series was also released on DVD in Japan in 2004 (one package with two discs featuring all 8 episodes).

Cutie Honey Flash was a more modern style magical girl series which began in 1997 and ran through 1998. This series ran for three seasons (a total of 39 episodes; 13 episodes in season one, 10 episodes in season 02, and 16 episodes in season 03), as well as a theatrical feature. This version of the show was more kid-friendly, and filled in the time slot left open by the end of the long-running Sailormoon franchise. This series was released on DVD in Japan in four two-disc sets for the series and a single-disc release of the theatrical feature. It has never been brought to the US in any form.

Re:Cutie Honey was a three episode OVA series released in 2004 to tie-in with the live-action movie. These three episodes were all released on DVD individually, and in a Re:Cutie Honey complete series set in 2005 in Japan. While there had once been talk about this series being released in the US, nothing ever came of it.

and finally (but probably least likely)...

Cutie Honey the Live is the most recent adaptation of Cutie Honey, a live action series (with no real connection to the live action movie). It aired in Japan from October 2007 - March 2008. It ran for 25 episodes (with a special DVD-only bonus episode). It was released on DVD (nine one-disc volumes) in Japan in 2008. While I've witnessed a very large American fanbase for this series, it's never been released in the US.

It has always baffled me how such a popular and important anime franchise such as Cutie Honey could be by-and-large ignore in the United States. But Nozomi has already released another popular classic series that has been ignored, Dirty Pair. And if your work on Dirty Pair and Revolutionary Girl Utena (not to mention many others) is any indication, the Cutie Honey franchise would be in very capable hands at Nozomi Entertainment.

Please consider it. This series has been ignored in the US by anime companies for too long. Fans are begging for it.

Capeta might be cool, due to the fact that I dug eX-Driver.

Usagi Drop looks uber touching, don't know if I'm ready to have my heartstrings tugged on that hard though...
I'm a fool for anything cycle-mech, so Viper's Creed might be worth a go.

Capeta is the best racing anime that has been made IMO. I like eX-Driver very much, but it's more a show about kids with cars doing a job rather than about racing. Initial D falls midway between these 2 shows, skewed more to the Capeta side.

You can see Usagi Drop on Crunchyroll - open up your heart and let Rin and the others yank on it...it's mostly happy tears, I promise!

And for Viper's Creed, it has it's own Youtube channel:
http://www.youtube.com/show?p=aP8Icvz5QXM&tracker=show_av

It's also on Hulu as well.

P.S. I like your Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension sig...

When I heard the news originally I was both happy and sad...
Happy that it was being released on Blu-Ray/DVD with an artbook for a good price, but sad that a few days before the news came out I had went ahead and ordered the R4 release...

Is licensed by Sentai Filmworks, and is set to get a DVD/BD release here at some point.

It's nice that RightStuf is getting publishing rights for manga titles like "Hentalia" and "Bizenghast", so I'll suggest a manga that TokyoPop dropped in the middle - one that should be near and dear to your hearts: Aria. TokyoPop closed its doors shortly after releasing volume 6, and by my reckoning, that leaves volumes 7-12 still to be released. smile

And while I'm at it, I'll add "Fruits Basket Ultimate Edition". TokyoPop dropped the ball on one of the biggest shoujo titles ever with that one.

kiku has mentioned one on another thread that looks like it could be a good choice for Nozomi - Brigadoon.

I'll also second him on:
Steel Angel Kurumi (if Sentai isn't going to renew the license), and
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, A's, and StrikerS, since it doesn't look like Funi is interested. Of course, that would mean that StrikerS won't get a dub, but I guess I could live with that. cool

Wouldn't Discotek be more likely to pick that one up, since they're also releasing other Leiji Matsumoto anime?
(I already have the AnimEigo "Arcadia of My Youth" though... wink )

OK.
I was just trying to point out that AFAIK it's very rare for a company to grab a title if another company is still actively releasing another/other title(s) of the same franchise/universe/multiverse.
(well, perhaps there are at times big companies like Warner muscling in to grab away a movie, there's the Urusei Yatsura movies oddness and I can't remember if Tenchi Muyo was also in that category when it started branching out in many directions...)

Re: Nozomi Entertainment Licensing Suggestions & Requests - 2012 - 05/30/12 08:17 AM

True, it's unusual, but not unheard of. For instance:

While Media Blasters holds the license for the first season of "Ah! My Goddess", ADV had the license for the second season until Funimation picked it up from them. On the other hand, Geneon holds/held the rights to the movie. And until the license lapsed recently, AnimEigo held the license to the original OVA.

Similarly, while ADV originally held the licenses for "Full Metal Panic!" and "FUUMOFU", Funimation snagged the license for "The Second Raid". Of course, Funimation now has the entire series, but it wasn't always that way.

A third example is "Hell Girl" - Funimation holds the license to season 1, which is dubbed, while Sentai Filmworks holds the licenses to seasons 2 & 3, which are consequently not dubbed.

Finally, ADV/Sentai held the license for NGE, but a studio named WEA held the license for the crucial ending movie "The End of Evangelion".

I might be able to come up with further examples, but I'm sure that you can see what I'm getting at.

Posted by: Cheap One

Re: Nozomi Entertainment Licensing Suggestions & Requests - 2012 - 05/30/12 11:00 AM

A very recent example is Queen's Blade. Media Blasters owns the first two seasons and Sentai Filmworks owns the currently airing season.

Re: Nozomi Entertainment Licensing Suggestions & Requests - 2012 - 05/30/12 02:26 PM

I wonder if the split licensing inhibits complete releases. I know I jumped at the new release of Martian Successor Nadesico without a second thought because the set was so complete.
Posted by: Manhiem

Re: Nozomi Entertainment Licensing Suggestions & Requests - 2012 - 05/30/12 02:52 PM

I'm sure that it would inhibit complete releases, since no one company can release the entire series under those conditions. That's why I appreciate Nozomi - taking "Dirty Pair" and "Nadesico" as examples, they set the standard for gathering all of the pieces of the puzzle, so to speak.

It would be nice if Sentai could get the remaining pieces of "Kino's Journey" and release a complete set, as Funi did with "Kaleido Star" not too long ago. It would also be nice if someone could license all of the various OVAs that have been released for "Ah! My Goddess" over the last few years, as well as "Fighting Wings". But I digress.

It's almost more of a spin-off than a second season, since you don't see much of Eclair and Lumiere. I know it's not much consolation, but it is available for viewing on Crunchyroll (sub-only).

It occurred to me today that Bandai is going to eventually let all of their licenses expire. That would include little gems like Crest/Banner of the Stars. When that happens, maybe Nozomi could pick up that title, along with any OVAs, etc. that haven't been released here yet.

Re: Nozomi Entertainment Licensing Suggestions & Requests - 2012 - 07/05/12 06:17 AM

I'm splitting my list into two groups in order to make it easier to parse.

Gundam:
Turn A Gundam (should be possible, since Bandai Entertainment returned the US rights to Sunrise).
ZZ Gundam (slim chance of getting a Japanese release with English subtitles, since the Blu-rays have already been released)
Gunpla Builders Beginning G (see above)
MS Igloo 2 (see above)
Victory Gundam (Funi and Sentai usually avoid older titles)
Gundam X (see above)
Gundam C.E. 73 Stargazer (see above)
Gundam AGE (I'm already importing the official Japanese L.E. Blu-Rays, but I'd be more than willing to double dip in order to support releasing more Gundam in North America)

Everything Else:
Aura Battler Dunbine (More people need to see it)
Code Geass: Akito the Exiled
Dragonar (too old for Funi/Sentai)
Ideon (see above)
L-Gaim (see above)
Macross (any entries, assuming that you can navigate through its nightmarish licensing situation.)
Patlabor (why hasn't this show/OVA been rescued from CPM's corpse yet? confused )
VOTOMS (any entries)

If nothing else I'd like to see Turn A Gundam, ZZ Gundam, Victory Gundam, and Gundam X get licensed, and I don't care if they are subtitle only, Aniplex-priced releases. I want more Gundam.

Obviously, I'm a mecha fan, and, no, I don't think that even half of my list will get licensed, but I can dream.

Only a couple left unpublished, would love to see them finished.

Probably wouldn't even need to pay for the translations for sgt frog and strawberry, they've been unfinished for a while so there's probably scanlations could just proof-read and use.

Re: Nozomi Entertainment Licensing Suggestions & Requests - 2012 - 07/18/12 08:42 PM

Since Lucky Penny is essentially the brand that I should put my licensing hopes toward (i.e. the stuff I want doesn't have the mass praise that Nozomi titles generally have, so there's no chance any of them can get a Nozomi-style special edition), I'm just going to reiterate my licensing requests with an emphasis that I am specifically talking about the Lucky Penny brand, not Nozomi.

Ring ni Kakero 1 [All 4 Seasons + the Pilot Film] (Yeah, I'm never going to stop asking for this, and you know that if this was licensed I would help promote it in any possible, especially if TRSI was to even get whatever portion of the anime that Ocean Studios apparently dubbed for Toei)
Kaiji [Both Seasons]
Akagi
Eat-Man & Eat-Man '98

And, for something "new"...
Hareluya II BY (Yeah, this is a true longshot [but why not try?], but this is the 1997, 25-episode anime adaptation of the Shonen Jump manga series of the same name by Haruto Umezawa; it follows the lives of Hareluya Hibino, a nigh-invincible high-school delinquent who goal is "World Domination", and his friends as they get involved in the troubles of their classmates and their own personal lives. It was one of the earliest "modern-day" late night anime, and truly has a style all its own; there really isn't much out there like this title. Unfortunately, the most it ever got for home video is the VHS & LD release it received after the show aired, as it never received a DVD release in Japan; the closest it will be getting to a DVD release is this October when its first episode will be included in the fourth volume of a series of first-episode DVD compilations of Jump anime that Shueisha is releasing throughout the rest of this year.)

Yeah, that's a lot of links I added in... I have the time, so might as well make my case as well as I can, right?

Aniplex has Bakemonogatari, but I'm not sure when they're planning to release it.
Sentai has Bodacious Space Pirates, and I believe they're planning to do a home video release.
Funi has Blessing of the Campanella, and they should be releasing it on DVD or in a combo pack later this year. The same is true for We Without Wings. They also have C3 available for streaming, though I don't know whether they are planning a home video release.

Two titles with fanservice. I wonder if that has anything to do with your wanting them? smile

Tee hee. wink In all seriousness though; fanservice is one of my greater motivators, but far from requisite for me to enjoy great anime. I love anime!

If they'd "license rescue" Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, that would be nice, since I think the odds of Media Blasters actually releasing it seem to be moving into the snowball in hell category... frown

After seeing kiku's list one that i'd like to see get picked up is Gunsmith Cats. I've heard about it from a number of people but have yet to see it, so a rescue (or even a re-release from Section 23) would be nice.

I don't think kiku is going to remove a title from that list until the physical release hits the store shelves. And who can blame him, after what happened with "Ro-Kyu-Bu"?

@ joelgundam01 - I've been following your posts quite closely. Again, I am very thankful for the concrete anime info. that you bring to Anime Today. It's one of the best perks for me being a poster here. However, Manhiem is correct. I'm keeping the titles in the list until I see the hard copy. You may have noticed that I have updated it a couple of times to reflect released titles.

@ Manhiem - Yeah you betcha! After the Great Guardians debacle of 2011, I don't feel compelled to remove any titles from my wish list until they are actually available.

P.S. - It's not fair. Uber kawaii genki girl basketball anime Ro-Kyu-Bu ~ Fast Break! totally deserves a subbed DVD release. Why...WHY!!! cry

Then please make two separate lists. It would be easier for Nozomi to sort though, since they can't acquire a license that has already been acquired by someone else.

Funi has Blessing of the Campanella, and last I heard, they were planning a physical release. They also have home entertainment rights to Sankarea. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/201...tail-film-akira

Aniplex has Bakemonogatari. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/201...gatari-tv-anime
Viz is currently streaming Lagrange: The Flower of Rin-ne.

@joelgundam01
Have you heard whether Viz has home video distribution rights for Lagrange?

Re: Nozomi Entertainment Licensing Suggestions & Requests - 2012 - 08/16/12 03:50 AM

Hello there!
Recently at Anime Iowa during the RightStuf Panel, one of the hosts mentioned that you are looking into what defunct titles fans are interested in seeing finished for manga. I have a list here for you, hopefully someone takes note! smile

From Tokyopop:
Gakuen Alice- I know that Nozomi licensed and has the anime, so I'm hoping perhaps the manga may get picked up as well. It stopped at #16 here, and is ongoing in Japan at 27 volumes. I know longer series are sometimes a risk. Is that why it hasn't been picked up? Even though it was on the top NY times best seller list? I absolutely love it and hope someone will reconsider, maybe you!

Good Witch of the West ( Nishi no Yoki Majo) - This was a giant build-up of love, then frustration, then disappointment. Even though it had much praise, and many fans clamoring for it's end it came so close and still fell. After a hiatus of more than a few years Tokyopop was going to publish the 7th and final volume, thanks to the continuous requests to have it finished, and a wonderful Tokyopop intern that listened. Then Tokyopop closed two months before it's release date XD So this is probably one of my top wanted. Please please please consider printing the final volume on demand. (Also a hint, it has novels and an anime too though I haven't seen it (and it looked like it was changed quite a bit) Released in 2006! That might be nice! :D)

Happy Cafe- This one got to 8 volumes, and had 15. Another that may be a long shot since it still had 7 left but worth listing! So cute!

Kilala Princess- Now this is probably a snowball chance. I know I may never finish it, however I did love the art quite a bit. The first two volumes got released as 4 mini manga's way back, when it had a total of 5 volumes. It is a kodansha title, with disney involved so I doubt it will ever be re-released/finished.

Love Attack- Had 6 volumes printed, with 13 ongoing in Japan. However another Kodansha title dropped in the middle from Tokyopop. Also slim chance, but it never hurts to ask.

Pantheon High- Volume 3 was finished by it's american creator, and even released digitally but never actually published. (It also was online for a limited time and I missed it T_T) however, I would really like to own a physical copy of the final volume.

Princess Ai: Prism of Midnight Dawn - Since it was made via many creators, I don't know quite how this one would work but I would like to find out the end!

Queen's Knight- 12 of sixteen published volumes, I would love to know how it ends after investing so much into it!

The Third - I would like to continue with this one, and since you have the anime I thought it couldn't hurt mentioning it!

V.B. Rose- This was another that came so close. With 12 volumes published, with only 14 total. The 13th volume was supposed to be released two months from whenTokyopop closed it's doors. T____T So this is a plea to get the final two volumes picked up and finished!

That's it for Tokyopop.

The only title from Go! Comi that I had wanted finished:

Bound Beauty- It had three volumes of 8 published. I really enjoyed previous series by Mick Takeuchi and I would love to finish the rest!

The only title from Viz (and the only one from nostalgia childhood) Also enter a snowman into the 4th level of ___ :

Magical Pokemon Adventure
Since they publish everything else pokemon still, I doubt there is much chance for a reprint or finishing things off, but all the older volumes go for so much now even used! They printed 7 of 10. This is one I would want to share with a daughter someday, but even the used copies go for $50 or more sometimes.

CMX Titles

Stolen Hearts (Toraware Gokko) - Such a wonderful light series! It got two volumes of the four released, and I would really really like it to be finished. It's always bad to be left in the middle.

Venus Capriccio- CMX closed with a single volume to go, with about a month or so to it's print date. Another that was sad as well as frustrating! I really want to own the last one!

Venus in Love- 8 volumes of the 12 were printed. Another series I just adore, and I would like to own the rest of!

Young Magician- I followed this series eagerly from the beginning, (for 6 years!) and loved the creator's other series as well. It was a blow to have the final volume canceled when CMX closed a month before it was due. I want the final volume badly, and print on demand after all the time may be my only saving grace!

So there it all is.
My top one's however would have to be the manga series's with only one volume to go or so! (I do want the others, but realistically these also have the best shot at being rescued!)
Good Witch of the West, Pantheon High 3, Stolen Hearts, V.B. Rose, Venus Capriccio, and Young Magician are my top 6 that I would rejoice for!

Also if it is helpful to whoever reads this and takes note: What Manga You Want Continued, Tokyopop
A intern at Tokyopop started this quite a few years back and people still do post on it occasionally. It's what got the ball rolling to finish Good Witch of the West before the whole shebang crumbled. There are a lot of uniformed posts about the state of the series that they ask for (like asking for more of a series that is already done or still on hiatus in Japan), but a lot are legit, sincere requests.

Thank you for taking the time to read my ridiculous long post, and I hope it helps!

Re: Nozomi Entertainment Licensing Suggestions & Requests - 2012 - 08/25/12 12:25 PM

I also recently finished Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko on YouTube. It's a nice little slice of life story about a girl who believes she was abducted by aliens, and then sent back to observe humanity on their behalf. Her cousin, who has come to live with her for a while, decides that he must debunk that notion.

I found it frustrating that the story ended just as it was beginning to get interesting, but it might still be a good title for RightStuf to look at.

Re: Nozomi Entertainment Licensing Suggestions & Requests - 2012 - 08/31/12 08:48 AM

Dear Nozomi,

I would love you forever, and pay premium price, if you would license Tamayura and give it the same awesome treatment as you did Aria. After two years, and a few more shelves of anime, the Aria boxes are still my favorites in my collection.

Tamayura is another iyashi-kei (healing type) anime by Junichi Sato, the director of Aria. I just finished watching the first season (and re-watching the OVA), and it is truly a worthy successor of his earlier masterpiece.

Of course, technology has moved on from DVD to BluRay, but Tamayura's visuals are very much worth it, and BD would have plenty of room for extras. The Japanese BDs look like they have some interesting videos and commentary that I'd love to see.

A second season of Tamayura will be coming next year, so now would probably be a good time to start a translation and release.

Sincerely,
Kimiko

I would love to see NOZOMI acquire and release THE TATAMI GALAXY ! As it seems Funimation & co are ignoring this wonderful series outside of Streaming.

Also, on the retro side, Saves of DUAL! Paralell Trouble Adventure & Magical Project S Mwould be much appreciated!

Maybe Sailor Moon if Funi doesn't snatch it up first.

He's listing suggestions for Right Stuf's POD (print on demand) division. While the two titles are fully available in their anime form, the manga versions haven't been fully released in the US.

I would love to see the Princess Resurrection manga continue. The manga is much more unique compared to its anime counter part.

I'll let our licensing department know about your request, but since the Suzuka manga is a Kodansha title that was released by Del Rey, I'd also recommend letting Kodansha Comics know that you'd love to see the rest of the series released. smile

If I have made any errors, please feel free to inform me; so that I might edit this post.
I have removed Bakemonogatari from my wish list due to it's outrageousely high price tag, especially considering it's Blu-ray only and subtitled only. No thanks, I don't think that I want to start paying Japan's overinflated DVD/Blu-ray rates. I love anime, but I also love having a roof over my head. Don't get me wrong, I'm the first one to drop a cool grand on anime in a given month; but you've got to draw the line somewhere. I'm looking at you Fate/Zero import box sets 1 & 2.

Has anybody heard any news regarding Kemeko DX aka "The Unknown Girlfriend" aka "Kemeko Deluxe!"? I had it mixed up in my previous list with Mysterious Grilfriend X, which I'm also waiting for.

On top of my initial request, would you guys ever consider teaming up with Dark-Horse to release the rest of the Dirty Pair Novels stateside!? Darkhorse only released 2 of the DP Novels 3-8 still haven't been localized!

Re: Nozomi Entertainment Licensing Suggestions & Requests - 2012 - 09/21/12 08:08 PM

Just a thought, but with the forum category this topic is a part of now titled "Nozomi & Lucky Penny General Discussions", should there be two seperate license request topics?

To explain, should there be a seperate Nozomi thread, where people can suggest titles that they feel deserve/can benefit from the special edition packaging that Nozomi will now be about, and Lucky Penny thread, where people can suggest titles that they simply would like to see brought over in general without needed the special edition treatment (which is what Lucky Penny will be about)?

Just a thought, because with TRSI having two release labels now, it might get a little confusing now in regards to what titles each fan feels is worthy of a special edition Nozomi release & what titles each fan simply wants to see brought over without the need of a special edition release.

I'm curious. Why, amongst all of the alternate history Warring States period anime out there, are you both interested in this particular one?

I made it through about six episodes of Sengoku Basura and five episodes of Battle Girls Time Paradox before I gave up on them. Sengoku Collection didn't even fair that well. Is Ambition a lot better than the others?

Re: Nozomi Entertainment Licensing Suggestions & Requests - 2012 - 10/02/12 04:26 PM

Doing a quick Google image search of the series, I am pretty sure I know why kiku is interested in it.

It is made by Madhouse and Studio Gokumi. Here is the synopsis from AnimeList so it shouldn't have spoilers like Wiki

Quote:
The historical romantic comedy follows 17-year-old high schooler Sagara Yoshiharu who one day time-travels to the Sengoku period, where all the major Samurai lords are cute girls. Yoshiharu meets Oda Nobuna, the female counterpart of Oda Nobunaga, and begins to serve her as a substitute of Kinoshita Tokichiro, who was killed.

I haven't seen it, but I like the concept and the characters grab my attention.

Chris gave it a strong review on it over at Fandom Post. He and I have very similar tastes, so when he recommends something. I take it into consideration.

What really grabs my attention is that the male lead isn't your typical wimpy character that we usually see. He's strong willed with knowledge of the time period, which he takes advantage of.

Re: Nozomi Entertainment Licensing Suggestions & Requests - 2012 - 10/03/12 06:39 AM

This review at one of my favorite review sites states that Ambition Of Oda Nobuna pays "surprising attention to historical detail". this is with particular regard to it's recent predecessors Sengoku Collection, Samurai Girls, Shin Koihime Muso, and Ikki Tousen. The reviews found at one of my other favorite sites support this notion. I will admit however, to having interest in it for the fanservice... HISTORICAL REFERENCE FANSERVICE! Apparently: "Oda Nobuna's habit of lounging half-dressed with her kimono hanging half off isn't fan-service: it's one of the real-life Nobunaga's actual personality quirks."

Collection 1 of Qwaser Of Stigmata contains episodes 1 - 12. Apparently there's 24 episodes in season 1. Does that mean that I can expect a Collection 2 from Sentai Filmworks? Furthermore, has there been any word of a DVD release intended for Qwaser Of Stigmata Season 2 (aka Seikon no Qwaser II)?

Sentai has only acquired season 1 (yes, 2 parts). Season 2 will depend on season 1's sales.

Thanks for the info as always joelgundam01. It's good to know that at the very least I'll have the complete first season in my collection. I'll do my part to incite season 2's release, and purchase both collections of season 1.

Unfortunately, I got a response for Kodansha indicating that they don't have plans to finish the series at present. I hope I won't be the first nor last person to ask Kodansha about this.

Re: Nozomi Entertainment Licensing Suggestions & Requests - 2012 - 12/08/12 06:02 PM

Some titles I would love to see released are:

Onii-sama e - Absolutely love this series although it was quite emotionally draining to watch (Nanako sure isn't kidding in the next episode previews when she says she can't stop her tears). I have no idea if DVD licensing is available right now, though, since it's officially being streamed on Viki.

Tenshi ni Narumon - I faithfully bought the DVDs that Synchpoint released of this series despite the long gaps between releases before they went under because I loved the characters and humor. It would be great if the entire series could be released.

Mizuiro Jidai - I've watched some of this middle school slice-of-life series and really enjoyed what I've seen.

Aka-chan to Boku - A sweet and poignant series about a young elementary school boy taking care of his baby brother after the death of his mother and his father working long hours at work.

Nurse Angel Ririka SOS - I've always wanted to see this magical girl anime and have heard great things about its ending.

Hime-chan no Ribbon - Another classic shoujo I'd love to see.

Hi, kiku!

Quick question: is the Corpse Demon anime on your list different from Shiki? If it's the same, Shiki is actually available now from FUNimation via 2 DVD/Blu-ray combo sets. smile

Woops! I didn't put two & two together. Thanks for pointing that out for me. No worries. I already own, and have watched Shiki. I'll edit my list.

Please please PLEASE license Nodame Cantabile. It's a great series that's sadly gone un-noticed in the States. It would also fit right in with your other titles!
