Flag Vol. 2 please help

Hello everyone. I'v been running all around the web trying to find someplace that sells volume 2 of the Flag series and cant find a single copy anywhere, new or used. I was hoping someone out there might know someplace that sells it. The only thing important is that its region 1 (US Canada and so on). I'v sent in an email to rightstuf asking if they will be getting in more copies but thought i might try the forums as well. Anyways, if anyone knows or has any information on where i can buy a copy it would be of great help. Thanks in advance.

Those people could help you out as well.

The answer is no. If it's not listed on Right Stuf, then it's no longer available on the wholesale level and they can't get anymore copies in.

You might try the obvious places like scambay or a****n.

aah, now i know where to find the complete set but there's like a 98% its bootleg. hmm, well ill keep trying ebay and ill try out those Anime News Network and Fandom forums as well. Thanks for those suggestions. still if anyone happens to run across it somewhere...

I tried DeepDiscount, they just have 1,3,&4.
eBay also has a crappy mobile site. (kept giving Flags of our Fathers)
Nothing on Half Price Books Marketplace (similar to Amazon)
Amazon has 1,3,&4. They used to have the Anime Legends version (which had all 4 discs) but they no longer carry it.

I checked the Barnes & Noble Marketplace, and volume 2 is a no go there too.

It's a great Anime, I've watched it 3 times so far.

There was one planned (solicited even), but it was never released. Bandai decided to cancel the AL set at the last minute due to poor sales of the singles.

Unique doesn't equal sales. Bandai went on record saying that this was one of their worst selling titles.

Worst selling title? I have the singles w/artbox and thought it was a very good anime, well worth one's time and money.

One of their worst, not thee worst.

It only sold a few hundred copies at regular price from what I've heard, while a big chunk of the stock was sold off to Big Lots.

Why the low numbers? Bad marketing or just one that just didn't catch on?

Who knows! The same could be said/asked for the majority of the titles that Pioneer/Geneon USA acquired.

We must remember that the anime fanbase is fickle lot, like any other fanbase. So many of us have such wildy different tastes from one another. I would imagine it's a stupendously difficult feat for the industry walk the tightrope between satisfying our desires and financial suicide.

That being said, Flag is f???ing amazing; nothing short of anime excellence. Further more, it is as joelgundam01 put it: "unique". I've never seen another anime like it, and I cherish my 4 volume box set. I've lent it out on more than one occasion; and so far, anyone who's seen it has been blown away.

well i checked goHastings. they carried it once but like all the others they are out of stock. There is a biglots 2 doors down from my work. ill flip threw the random movies every once in a while. low chance but maybe. ill also be checking f.y.e friday.

yah, but it looked a bit off so i googled its legitimacy. everything i read pointed towards it being a bootleg sight. which sucks cince that's the only place iv seen that has it.

The use of local resale shops can often prove fruitful. I've made some really unlikely finds in my day. Keep your chin up and your eyes peeled.

so what is it about disk 2? i find disks 1, 3, and 4 everywhere.

might have found a copy! has anyone bought from bestbuyanime? it has SSL, and the flag dvd is region 1. They say that all dvd's are factory sealed but they also say they sell region 0, which is prety much exclusive to bootlegs...

They won't have any left. Bandai dumped the left over stock over 2 years ago.


Bandai Entertainment already sold off all of their stock of the title. If it isn't available at Right Stuf, then they won't have any. Plus, Bandai Entertainment recently closed up shop.

Amazon has it for $19.99 (sold by 3rd party seller Newbury Comics). Just do a search for "Flag 2".

If you can find for $19.99, it's well worth it. Although I have no experience with that seller. When I shop Amazon, I always try really hard to buy only items that say "Fulfilled By Amazon".

BTW just wanted to mention something about all anime companies at the time period.

Since it was the middle of the "boom" period (IE anime was very popular in the US) they had a bad habit of selling more volumes than what they needed for the show.

For example many 12-13 episode shows came on 4 discs, and many 24-26 episode shows came on 7 discs (sometimes even 8).

Plus the prices were not as cheap as they are now.
We are talking about $20-$25 per disc, so most shows were in the $60-$140 range.
Of course most of that was spread out over a 1-2 year period with a new volume coming out roughly every two-three months.

The prices I gave are not taking into account any "specialty" stores that usually marked them way up (such as Suncoast) or way down (like Right Stuf).

it is. i ordered that first before all the searching for disk 2, so it arrived yesterday. its awesome how its like the old top down cameras, and they even gave it a lens.

side question, is there a place here to just post little questions. there's a show iv been wondering about how to get but its probably nothing.

well im looking for dennou coil, but im prety shour the only copies are the $300+ copies and i think i read that that there retail price was around that to begin with. i just wanted to ask if this was right or if theres somewhere they might sell for a more reasonable price. i mean i loved it and want to support them, but theres no way i can drop that much without winning some kind of large lottery type money thing. ill try the new topic. i just hope they dont get mad at me for postn all this stuff.

Dennou Coil has never been licensed in the US. It's one of the few titles that's stuck in licensing hell (too much red tape).

If the set in question is Blu-ray, then chances are pretty good that that it's the Japanese set. Japanese releases do run at those prices. Also, most Japanese Blu-ray releases these days contain English subtitles, since they know that US and Japan are in the same region (A).

If it's a DVD set, then chances are pretty high that it's a bootleg.

well its blu-ray so thats good. maybe if i start a change jar...

I just looked at the set. There are no English subtitles, so I would avoid buying it unless you understand Japanese.
