Intro/Outro

Intro/Outro - 11/09/11 05:46 PM

Did you just have your mind blown away by a new anime intro (or outro) sequence? Was the music so freakin' cool that you just gotta tell someone? Does your favorite anime happen to the have the greatest intro (or outro) of all time? Does a particular anime intro sequence mesh so well with the music that it merits mention? Anime intros (and outros) instill a myriad of emotions in me and are one of my favorite parts of anime.

Re: Intro/Outro - 11/09/11 05:54 PM

The intro sequence to "Requiem From The Darkness" is one of the coolest I've ever seen and is indicative of the anime as a whole. Cool is the word I feel best suits "Requiem From The Darkness". I don't know what's cooler, the visuals or the song "The Flame" by Keiko Lee". Here's a link to watch the intro:

Re: Intro/Outro - 11/09/11 06:46 PM

I call them "opening" and "ending" sequences myself.

For the opening, I have to go with Black Lagoon.

For the ending, it goes to Gankutsuou no contest.

Re: Intro/Outro - 11/09/11 07:58 PM

Awe hell yeah, "Red Fraction" by Mell gets me SO jacked!

"You Wont See Me Coming" is pretty epic too.

Are these kinds of videos allowed?

Anyhow I will add some later, cause it's kind of hard to do so via iPhone.
Due to the fact it automatically takes me to the mobile version of YouTube.

As long as it's just the opening and ending sequences and not the actual show. There shouldn't be any problems with it.

Re: Intro/Outro - 11/10/11 11:52 AM

OK then, I will post a couple of the ones that I really like.

eX-Driver Opening: Kaze ni Nare

Haruhi Suzumiya Season 2 Opening: Super Driver (note this is the English cover by Cristina Vee who played Haruhi in the ASOS brigade episodes during this season)

Haruhi Suzumiya Season 1 Ending: Hare Hare Yukai (yeah it's the infamous dance)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5G5bD2Do-k

Not sure if this one is OK or not since it's a live version
My Neighbor Totoro: Tonari no Totoro (live and really awesome)

Another one of my favorite anime intros is "Groovin Magic" for Gunbuster 2 (Diebuster). The link to check it is in the Critical Mass Forum due to a slight bit of nudity. It's the 1st post in the "Gunbuster 2 intro" topic.

Make sure you crank up the volume!

Suzumiya Haruhi's ED has to be one of my favorites. These two are fun to listen to. In Air Master's ED, I wonder the heck Maki is running from.

Air Master ED
Maximum The Hormone - Rolling 1000 Toon

Final Fatasy Unilimited ED
Fairy Fore - Vivid

Re: Intro/Outro - 11/17/11 09:58 PM

When I had Final Fantasy Unlimited I liked the Romancing Train ending.

I had a chance to see the band that sang that song at Sakuracon, but I was tired and had no clue that the band that was playing was the same band.

Anyhow since Kiku made this topic, do we have permission to add in songs from during the show? AKA insert songs? Cause I have a couple of those for later.

I recognized that group when I heard the ED from watching Ikki Tousen.

Re: Intro/Outro - 11/18/11 01:43 PM

Well until I can actually find a video with sound for that particular song (besides the actual music video, which might not be appropriate) I will add a couple of more other openings & endings that I liked.

Shine from the original Hellsing anime by Mr. Big
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S70krAJ09fk

Hit In America from Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSIPPi6DXbY

I am a Pioneer (English) from Tenchi Muyo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wy6ZKWq9Yug

Your Hiroshi (English) from Pretty Sammy (note this is a karaoke type video)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOtSPMVdiRA

Read or Die opening (slight nudity)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsBpraFks0Y

Read or Die TV Opening (slight nudity)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLKinNz3_OI&feature=related

Mezzo DSA opening (ignore the title it's not Forte)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SP3bi6gSS8

BTW I noticed that several videos on Youtube have been forcibly muted. This is part of a overall crackdown on the internet. It could be considered censorship, and needs to be avoided at all costs.

Oh yeah baby! Get down with your bad self! I started this topic, much like all the topics I've started, to have fun. This topic in particular was started to express my love for music in anime. OP, ED, action sequence; heck I don't care if it's from the special features menu. All hail anime music!
Posted by: Nambu Hakase

Re: Intro/Outro - 11/18/11 03:57 PM

R.O.D. OP's remind me of older 007 movies with the female silhouettes in the background.

Gun Frontier's ED

Umeno Yoshizawa - Ame to Sanbika

EDIT:

Kirameki Project ED (believe it or not the babe is a giant robo)

Sae - Setsunasa Communication
Posted by: kiku

Re: Intro/Outro - 11/18/11 11:33 PM

That is so cool. I just watched Kirameki Project for the 1st time a couple of weeks ago. Loved it. I forgot how catchy the ending theme is for KP. And I'm on the 2nd disc of Gun Frontier and it's my first time seeing that as well. Lovin' it.

Re: Intro/Outro - 11/19/11 02:17 PM

Noir OP. I loved this show. These girls were relentless. The OP shares similar themes with R.O.D's

ALI Project - Coppelia's Casket

Kodocha OP Very catchy tune and animation

Tomoe Shinohara - Ultra Relax

Believe it or not, I have not seen bludgeoning angle yet.

Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2 ED is my absolute favorite ED. I'd rather post the end of the movie with the song but that has spoilers but it's also why I love the ED so much.

Chaka - Ashita e no Melody
Posted by: EricDent

Re: Intro/Outro - 11/20/11 01:59 PM

Well since we were talking about it...

Little Wing from Scrapped Princess (full version) no video just a still image with the song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drI_l0Ee5k4

Daichi no la-li-la from Scrapped Princess (full version) like the previous video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVKcGpSFxwo

Now for a couple of insert songs.

Girls Can Rock by Lia from School Rumble (yes she sings in English as well as Japanese) this is probably the best part of the whole season.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAHXdQ6QE9M

Agape from UFO Princess Valkyrie (full song) no video like the others.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72emdvQh66E

Suki Suki Suki wa na kanji from UFO Princess Valkyrie

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUyghKplFSs

And to add a couple of other openings/endings

Slip Out (Just a Little More) the last episode of Beck Mongolian Chop Squad Ending (full English version) who knew that Greg Ayers could seriously rock?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oe9KNL0GLUo&feature=related

Trigun's opening Hard Target

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSX58TglZRs

And of course no true list of best opening/closing songs would be complete without this one...Tank! from Cowboy Bebop

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6zDfxZ4NcE&feature=related
Posted by: Nambu Hakase

Re: Intro/Outro - 11/20/11 03:11 PM

UFO princess wasn't one of my favorite but it did have great music. I didn't know an english version of Slip Out existed. Cowboy Bebop definitely has great music. Did you notice that Tank has over 2 million views. I think it's better publicity if the studios leave the music videos up instead of yanking them. A majority of my japanese CD purchases have been made after seeing the music posted on youtube. I own both No Disc and the OST.

Cowboy Bebop

Memory It's a haunting little tune. Great for background music. I converted it to midi and put it on my site.

Greenbird I love the way they used on the series, this serene music with scenes of mayhem in the background.

Cats on Mars This reminds me of Ed everytime I here it.
Posted by: EricDent

Re: Intro/Outro - 11/20/11 10:28 PM

Yeah on the dub of Beck the VAs actually sang all the songs in English with exception of the intro/ending (the My World Down ending only since Moon Light Sway was also dubbed IIRC).

The Japanese version of Slip Out is technically in English, but it's so darn hard to understand since it's rather bad English (or as it's sometimes called "Engrish").

I personally would love to have the mp3 of the English dub version of that song.
Posted by: kiku

Re: Intro/Outro - 11/21/11 04:33 PM

Ok is it just me, or does the "3,2,1, let's jam" intro voice from Cowboy Bebop's Tank intro sound like Jemaine from Flight Of The Concords?

I love the old school stuff too--those eighties sounding songs. That song actually reminds me of Bananarama's "I Heard a Rumour." I grew up in the eighties so that music is my favorite anyways.

EDIT: I love the You're Under Arrest OPs EDs. They put so much detail into the animation--the Honda looks very slick. Miyuki looked the prettiest the first season.

There's lot's of great music on Aria.

Aria the Animation OP
Yui Makino - Undine
Yui Makino - Euforia

Aria the Natural ED

I saw it over on the "A" site used for about $9, of course new is expensive.

Its from ADV.
I own all the Nuku Nuku shows, and the OVA is probably the best (though the TV series is a pretty good one as well).

Re: Intro/Outro - 05/26/12 01:59 PM

For real, Brigadoon is instilling that essence in me that reminds me why I love anime so much. I got my hands on the copies that I own through quite a roundabout means, but I would buy a new rerelease in a New York minute.
Posted by: Manhiem

Re: Intro/Outro - 05/26/12 02:17 PM

To me, Brigadoon is just an old Gene Kelly movie about a town that appears only one day every 100 years.

Can someone provide a synopsis of the anime? All this talk about it has me curious.

Edit: Never mind. Found kiku's synopsis on another thread.

No matter how many times I watch it, I just can’t get over how much the Intro Gets to me.

Especially when you’ve already seen the Series and are able to reflect on what you already know
about the Series as you watch & listen the it.

Yah, they should only go after ( remove ) the one’s that change the content of their Video.
and just look the other way with those that are just showing it Straight Up .

It may be good PR, but it's bad business with Japan. Funimation sends C&D orders, when the Japanese companies demand them to. If they refuse, then you can count on them to never work with Funimation again.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't get the whole "dance craze" thing that song is causing.

What's next? The president doing it?

Anyhow it probably will eventually die, just like the other dance craze the Macarena. Of course for some odd reason people still do the Chicken Dance & the Hokey Pokey...

Also a person at work pointed out that Mick Jagger & Tina Turner did this dance way back in the '60s.
Just watch the begining of "start me up" or "proud mary" wild ending.

I do agree with you, I like it only because of the Gundam Characters Dancing to it.
( and the other Anime characters they show doing it in other video’s )

To me it has always sounded like he’s saying "Gundam Style" not "Gangnam Style"

Hmmmm, I found this, but I’m not getting much ( if anything, except a lot of BLACK )
when I click on stuff like INFORMATION http://www.sugoicon.org/current/index.html

I looked at the 2011 info that’s available, it’s telling me more than the site for 2012.
Looks like, as best as I can tell, that I would have had to already register ( sign up & pay ) to go to it.

If I can just show up and get in, I have no clue.

I can find start times or a list of daily events ether.
Seems like I’m working too hard to find this info out.

Re: Intro/Outro - 12/19/12 12:56 PM

Most anime conventions are 24 hours a day, but the "normal" hours would be from about 9 am-6 pm for the getting in part.

BTW I am sure they have limits on what you can get signed by the guests.
Maybe 1-2 items tops, that way they can see as many people as possible.
Also if the guest is really popular, I would suggest lining up really early (like at least 30 minutes before they do the signing).
Not to mention that certain guests only do a very limited number of signatures.
Just hope they don't charge for them like the guests at Comiccon/Wizard World do.

Maya don't really believe the end comes at the end of the 13th Baktun so you can say the world should end at any time. They do believe a 14th Baktun will happen and of course is currently happening.

A 4-koma (4 panel) comedy manga kind of 1:1 translated into an anime, resulting in each episode consisting of a whole bunch of 1-3 minute (absurd) jokes.

Mell has given us Red Fraction from Black Lagoon, Rideback from Rideback, and apparently; she does Virgin's High for Sky Girls as well. Mell is trully a banshee! Check out No Vain and Mirage. I'll put a link for "Another Side" in the "General Hentai Discussion" forum under the topic "Mell", due some nudity in it's content; but crank it up and check it out! Long story short: Mell did the OP for Sky Girls, Sky Girls should get a stateside home video release; period.

It's not my favorite, but i've been flying through Toriko lately & really enjoy the opening theme

Toriko - GUTS!! GUTS!!

Also like the Hellsing end theme
Hellsing - Shine

Re: Intro/Outro - 02/12/13 08:53 PM

For some reason I seem to find more ending songs I like than openers. I guess my favorite opener would be a toss-up between the opening theme for Magic Knight Rayearth and "Shell" from {b]Witch Hunter Robin[/b]. I also liked the openers for both seasons of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.

My all-time favorite ending song would be "Mizu no Madoromi" from Fantastic Children, with "Hime Murasaki" from Basilisk and "The Beautiful World" from Kino's Journey as runners-up.

It does look cute. But it's yet another series that makes me believe that Japan must be over 99% female. Is it just so impossible to expect a series with more than one male main character anymore >_<

Isn't it for (non-action) stories of any media aimed at 1 specific gender pretty standard to have more/prettier characters of the oposite sex? (since the watcher doesn't want much "competition" from his/her own gender) wink

Lots of anime seems to be these days: anime type "N" is profitable among "male Japanses otaku" -> more of anime type "N" gets made, since that's financially safe -> at some point there's more of anime type "N" than the "male Japanese otaku" ecosystem can support -> some other hype will mostly replace anime type "N" and the population of anime type "N" will go down to a more sustainable level again.
So you will always have "why is there so much of type 'N'?" booms...

Here, have some reverse-harem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srR1xLzkAVg to rebalance the anime population at bit. wink
(it is kind of sad one gets named "reverse" and not just something like "female harem"/"male harem"...)

Re: Intro/Outro - 03/20/13 08:21 PM

The awesome outro for Shakugan no Shana III Final "I'll Believe" by Altima, is composed by Kow Otani. Kow Otani also composed Daphne In The Brilliant Blue's "Blue Wing Of Tomorrow" by Sae, which I love. The background vocals on on "I'll Believe" sound strikingly similar to the background vocals on Burst Angel's intro "Everybody Loosey" by THE STRiPES, although I can't make any conncetions. Kow Otani's got some great works under his belt such as Outlaw Star, Gunslinger Girl Il Teatrino, and all of the Shanas to name but a few; which is but a smidgen of this prolific composer's repertoire. Speaking of prolific, The Shana franchise boasts some pretty great names in music. Mami Kawada, Kotoko, and Love Planet Five; which is a collaborative effort that features the prior two and Mell of Black Lagoon and Rideback fame. Long story short: where are the Shana soundtracks? Not convinced?

"Joint" Shana II OP
"Blaze" Shana II OP 2
"Light My Fire" Shana III OP
"Serment" Shana III OP 2 (Woops, I threw in Mami Kawada's vid; my bad. I love anime!)
"One" Shana III OP 2 (Woops, I threw in a live music video from Altima... Oh my God! The pants! The glasses! My eyes! I can never unsee that. I still wonder if that's the guy from "Everybody Loosey"?)

A convention here in the Netherlands managed to contract that band to give a concert. (http://www.animecon.nl/news-archive/altima)
I personally don't really like concerts, so I won't visit it unless the convention staff just so happens to let one of my gopher shifts be then and there...

I saw the first ten episodes when it first aired. It wasn't just hard luck - Shu was also a whiner who was nearly on par with Shinji from Evangelion.

To me the 1st half of the show(12 episodes) is very good. Shu is a pain, but all the other characters make up for it. The show goes down hill in the 2nd half and has a huge crash landing in the final episode.

This ending song from KINMOZA is driving me crazy. I know I've heard this music style before, but I can't decide whether it's the big band sound from the 1940's, or something from the 60's. Can somebody clue me in?

It sounds like what we were taught was Swing music. Which was around in the 1940s.

I do like that OP for xxxHolic, and really liked the show, except the whiny, spazzy Wantanubi got on my nerves a bit too much... Wow, I didn't realize there was so many other xxxHolic shows out there - I was on Wiki, and discovered there is an animated movie, a 13 episode Season 2, 3 OVAs, and now a live-action TV series just made this past year - I'm gonna have to try to find some of that stuff to watch, especially want to see the second season!
