Waiting for the DSi will only cause a 1 month delay.
M4M: I can recommend some great PS3 exclusives,... but not RPGs, which I'd assume is your primary interest.

Having said that, I know that with the announcement there isn't really something that makes me want to get a PS3 beyond the Blu-ray compatibility, at least for now.

I still treat my PS3 as a PS2.5 considering I mainly play PS1/PS2 games on it. I actually have 2 of the 60gb versions as I wanted to make sure I had full backwards compatibility. One I bought used and the other I paid for on store credit trading in collectible RPG's and fanboy games (ran me around $190 of actual money spent to get the $500 store credit).

I wouldn't have purchased a 360 probably as everyone I know has gone through at least 2 of them with the most I know of from 1 person is having to get it replaced 6 times (currently on their 7th).

I have Star Ocean The Last Hope for the 360 and it is awesome the graphics and detail blow my mind and the characters remind me alot of the Xenosaga series...

If you have a 360 i suggest you pick it up...

I think i own every RPG that is currently out for the 360 right now im hoping they will release a Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition soon they said they would releae one eventually i can't wait...

With the Oblivion GOTY edition, it seems a shoe in.

This is exactly one of the reasons why I've been waiting on the 360. It has a lot of RPGs but the system itself seems to be the most unpredictable console yet. I'm hoping by the time I make the leap that the jasper version that "fixes" the ring of death will be out.

I have never had any problems out of my 360 i have owned 3 of them 2 i still have and one i sold to a friend of mine i have one for use when i am home and one for use when i am at work...
And i have had no problems out of any of them even the one i sold my friend still works and he smokes alot and never dusts it and he owns 6 house dogs so you know that thing is full of hair but it still works and its one of the first model 360's i got it on the launch date...
I think the newer 360 don't die that was just a problem with the old models but even the older PS3 would burn up and some of the first Wii's didn't work at all my cousin had his first PS3 for about a month and it actually got so hot inside it burnt out you could smell the burn in it.
But he also has a first model 360 that he had to send back to get repaired like 3 or 4 times...

The PS3 does run very hot... almost as hot as a power amp.

Soon after I bought my PS3, I bought a Nyko Intercooler, because my console was in a relatively cramped space. The cooler did add some noise, especially on the high setting, but it definitely increased the air flow. It worked great for a short time, but it eventually started making a whining sound, so I removed it, and I haven't used it since. It's a shame, because I really liked having the power button on the front of the console.

Since then, I've moved my PS3 so that it has plenty of ventilation.

Stef - Do me a favor & play Fallout 3. Wait for an awesome price/sale if you want, but do play it.
I'd very much like to hear your perspective.

I had never heard of Fallout before, but I just looked it up, read reviews, etc. So, is it that good?

I don't want to create an image of it being something that nothing could possibly live up to.. But yes,.. it is that good.

Perhaps digging around for GOTY edition news would be best for you, if you don't mind being patient.
The 360 is presently receiving several exclusive downloadable content updates (3 total, at minimum).
Were a GOTY edition to be released on PS3, it would include these updates.
