This area was looking kind of lonely, so I thought I'd start one more thread before leaving the office... SO, how many of you will be checking this out? What other light-novels are you reading? Which ones would you love to see translated in English?

SO, how many of you will be checking this out? What other light-novels are you reading? Which ones would you love to see translated in English? I will be! Great news, though the "Hannah Montana meets Heroes" PR-speak pains me (Kurt, et al., are forgiven, since you do what you gotta do to get attention). I'm not reading any (Japanese) novels aside from the ones being translated and released Stateside. My kanji studying is informal, unstructured and insufficient, and thus I remain largely a slave to furigana, though work on the books noted in my sig has been a good source of motivation to get better. Oddly enough, Seven Seas has picked up most of the novels that are of interest to me. Between those and Shana (though I don't care for Viz's formatting), and now Haruhi, as well as TOKYOPOP's ongoing (hopefully) Trinity Blood and Full Metal Panic! novels, I'm pretty happy. A timely continuation of Kino's Journey and Scrapped Princess would be good, but all we can do is ask. As for wants, I will continue to ask for the two Yukikaze novels and the Read or Die novels to be brought over. They've always sat near the top of my personal want list, and nobody's jumped on them yet. Someday, sooner rather than later, please!

I'll definitely be getting Haruhi, I'll just be waiting until a Yen Press sale to order it. I've been reading a number of light novels. Most recently I read volume one of Missing and The Twelve Kingdoms. Before that it was the first two volumes of Full Metal panic!. I was collecting Scrapped Princess, Kino no Tabi, and Shana, but it looks like I won't be seeing any more of those. Then I have the first volumes of Strawberry Panic and Ballad of the Shinigami on order, but Seven Seas' distributor is horrid about getting copies to TRSI. I've also been collecting the Boogiepop Phantom novels and will be getting the 2nd editions and look forward to the new ones. With Haruhi licensed, my current #1 novel license wish is Maria-sama ga Miteru. Baccano would be #2. Read or Die and the novelizations of Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni would be great too.

...and the novelizations of Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni would be great too. Quoted for being the fantastic truth. Forgot about those.

Seven Seas is moving to new distribution with a much larger organization, so here's hoping that this will help us get product in more timely!

Great news, though the "Hannah Montana meets Heroes" PR-speak pains me (Kurt, et al., are forgiven, since you do what you gotta do to get attention). LOL. Yes, please give the PR peeps the benefit of the doubt. (Sometimes those kinds of references are the best shot we have when we're talking with people who aren't already "in the know.")

I wonder if they went all alliterative on purpose, too. It made me think evil thoughts about making a shirt that says "Hannah Montana + Heroes = Haruhi" and wearing it to cons, though doing so would also require some sort of desire for personal bodily harm, I guess.

With Haruhi licensed, my current #1 novel license wish is Maria-sama ga Miteru. I'm quite interested in the Maria-sama light novels, too, after doing so much research on the series. (The characters are so awesome, you just want to hang out with them even more.) For the same reason, I'd love to have a chance to read the light novels that served as the basis for The Third: The Girl With the Blue Eye. The anime gives such as sense of there being a fully formed world with lots of stories. It's maddening to know they're out there... and that I can't read them.

Now that you mention it, I think I remember Adam Arnold saying something about that in one of the threads about their light novels and their plans for them. But yes, here's hoping the new system is better about getting their product to you guys. Even if I could get it a bit cheaper with coupons at the B&M store, I'd much rather just buy it from you guys and save myself the time, effort and gas.
