Yeah, saw that last night posted up on ANN. I also read in a blog *at another anime online retailer that shall remain nameless out of respect of RightStuf but you probably know already who I am talking about* stating ADV was going to indefinitely suspend several titles including but not limited to NHK vol 5 and Kanon vol 6.

Finally, some good news. It's great to be able to finish the shows I couldn't before. And the Dark Lord will get more of my money.

Production work on all these titles should be done or nearly done, so Funi won't have anything to do with that aspect. However, they are pressing the discs. That could be a potential downside. That's really the only downside I see, though. Funi has good retail penetration and discounts. Their boxes and physical extras typically are good, Viridian collections being the exception. I have some issues with Funimation, but primarily they've just never licensed anything that interested me overly much. I'm glad Geneon was able to work something out with them, though, if only so I can get Nanoha.

Titles like Ah My Goddess Movie, Appleseed, Armitage, Serial Experiments Lain,Chobits,etc.,etc., are going to be well stocked now(which is good if you accidentally scratch one and need to replace it! grin). Since Geneon is known for their good reputation and quality, Funimation did a good move in stepping in and aquiring these titles.

Geneon still owns the licenses and all details of the releases will still be handled by them. Funi is only distributing for them. That list from the press release is also not all inclusive. It was just some notable titles to get people's attention.
