Good to know, i knew about Monster but for some reason Darker than Black escaped me. Much obliged.

Wish List in no particular order except for #1 (most of which I realize are unrealistic smirk )

Sailor Moon - All of it, the anime, movies, specials, and live action.

Aria- I don't know why I like this show so much. Literally nothing happens. But it's just such a good show.

Rose of Versailles - A solid classic

Yami to Boushi - Ending aside, it's what kicked off the run of yuri we're now seeing released here, but it's the only one we haven't had announced for release. That's just not right.

Starship Girl Yamamoto Yohko TV - I'm still holding out hope...

El Cazador - I expect either ADV or Bandai already has it, but it's worth mentioning just because I'd rather you guys released it.

Nanoha - All three seasons, please. grin

Blue Drop - It'll save me from having to find fansubs...

Re: Cutey Honey and Live Action TV - These are just good fun. They're the only version of Honey I've liked and I would love to own them.

Sailor Moon - Just because it's worth repeating. Though if I can't have all of it, I'll happily take what wasn't released here (season 5, the specials, and the live action). Of course, a decent release for seasons 1 & 2 would be awesome, as I pretty much hate the ADV sets on my shelf and would replace them in a heartbeat with something better.

Pretty Cure - Since 4Kids thankfully decided it wasn't worth their time...

Brother, Dear Brother - another solid classic

the thing is with sailor moon, toei animation has made it clear that they will not license to america anymore. So its pretty much a wish that will never come true.

And the 5th series is just a little too risque to really come to america. Id love to see it myself so i could finish off my collection, but its still just another wish that will never come true.

Toei's a pain with a lot of things. I don't think it's a lost cause, though, just a long shot. And I think we have a better chance of getting that than we do RoV, for what little that's worth. Besides, I noted a lot of it was pipe dreaming. Doesn't mean I'm going to stop asking for it. wink

(Stares at her Ranma & Kashimashi discs) I disagree there. There's not really anything risque in season 5, certainly no more than the rest of the series, and it's actually tamer than a lot of what gets released here in terms of violence. It's not necessarily suitable for airing to the average 5 yr old, but apparently neither was the rest of the series and that was still released. At this point, there's not much chance any of the show would be aired anyway (CN only wants a male audience), so it becomes a moot point (unless that's a condition of license, Toei is stupid enough to try something like that). I don't disagree with you on the odds of a license or Toei ever loosening up, just the reasoning behind it.

I have to agree about the violence. But really the target of the show is kids. Of course there are more mature themes to it, but the general idea was to sell to kids. Ranma was meant to target the more mature audience, and Kashimashi was mostly meant for the more mature female / male audience. Now had stars actually tried to make the transgendered guys look a little bit cuter than they did, i really do believe that we would of seen it over here. Its just the fact that the guys even when they are transformed into the girls still look like guys. That and the ending of stars is the most tragic ending in the sailor moon series. Not to mention sailor moon has been ridiculed by a lot of american haters, so it would take a company that would not mind taking a loss in profit or criticism from fans to actually bring it over when/if toei ever loosens as you said.

First and foremost would be Mahoraba ~Heartful days~.

Other ones which I really hope will be licensed:
Aria and Sketchbook ~full color's~
Clannad
Geneon rescues, particularly Rozen Maiden and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha

What I meant by that was, regardless of who the show is targeted to in Japan, it's anime in America targeted at anime fans. The Starlights aren't an issue any more than Ranma or any other gender swapping character (and Fisheye, for that matter - I always suspected he liked that CN turned him into a woman laugh ). The old argument was that they couldn't edit the show enough for air because of the Starlights. That argument is now moot, as the show will never air to a children's audience. Otherwise, no one bats an eye at the idea.

I always thought Yaten looked like a girl, even when she was pretending to be a guy. grin

<Thinks back to season 1, Mars in particular, and Uranus committing suicide in season 3>It was no more tragic than anything that had come before, and they're all alive and standing and happy at the end.

SM was the most requested Toei series in the "what show would you download if you could" poll that was run by ANN, and not just by a couple of votes. Every show has it's detractors. For example, Maria-sama had it's haters and people who were complaining that something so uninteresting and boring was picked up rather than something they wanted. This isn't an uncommon thing. Money could be an issue, but it all goes back to Toei and other interested parties. Again, not saying it has much chance coming over, but I don't agree with all of your reasoning.

Thats to dl not to buy. Most people on forums such as ann are people who only dl fansubs and have no intent to buy anime at all. It may have been on the top, but if it ever did come out most people would not buy it. Its just a fact.

Also, anime in america targets a certain age group, regardless of the content. Sailor moon even in america is still targeted to kids, same as dbz, pokemon, yu-gi-oh and such even though all these shows were heavily edited to be shown to kids in america. While there may still be anime fans that enjoy the classic series that they remember when they were kids themselves doesnt change the fact that the show is and always will be a show specifically for kids.
