Media Blasters runs Anime Works, Tokyo Shock, and a couple others IIRC.

They used to put out loads of stuff, but have cut back a lot.
They are having finical troubles, so who knows how much longer they will be around.

Funimation & Sentai put out several (up to 6-7) titles per month, while Media Blasters maybe 1-3.

You are looking at their enter catalogs, while I'm looking at their recent license announcements.

Rurouni Kenshin was released back in 2002 by Media Blasters. FYI, Anime Works is just a label from Media Blasters.

Media Blasters only announced 5 titles last year (Bakuman being one of them), while Funimation announced over 30 last year alone.

Here is the full list of titles that Funimation have licensed but haven't released out yet on DVD/BD.

It's that why they went to hiring free lancers, instead of having a full staff? The guy said they're doing what they can to stay around.

I'm very...useless to my anime...it's hard to find stuff. Like...I didn't even know Aniplex was releasing stuff until my friend was crazy about a show early this year. I just learned about Sentai last year, in December. So, I'm behind on...everything.

Yeah that's the story.

I just hope they can actually release Godzilla Vs Megalon on DVD soon.
They are dealing with Toho over an issue with the recent DVD of Destroy All Monsters (which totally blows the old ADV version out of the water).
So there us a hold up on that. Also some of the people they used to help with the DVD had a hard time getting paid (though they finally did recently).

I am a member of the Sci-Fi Japan message boards, and there is loads of talk about the whole mess over in Media Blasters land.

I hope they can stay alive as well, I do like several of their titles.
Plus they do an awesome job on the various monster movies they put on DVD as well.

Funimation no longer has a parent company. Nivarre sold them to some private investors and they are privately owned once again.

indeed, thats why i said 'HAD' lol, in fact i know various people that work for navarre, a neighbor of mine worked there for a few years. its tough for any company to make that leap from sub only to dubbing. its a huge risk. and they know that. and i know most if not all of us would be more inclined to buy an anime if it were dubbed but theres still alot of people out there that dont. on a slight side-note dont forget funi also uses okratron5000 for dubbing and mixing so they arent strictly in-house only but thats more of an alleviating of workload rather than a budget thing. or at least they used to i havent noticed lately if they have used them for recent releases...

That sucks, they're holding some really good licenses. But being Funimation, I can at least be rest assured the delays in releases are mostly due to dubbing or some grace period for the Japanese releases to get out or be out a certain amount of time. Hopefully not too long, I've waitied so long for Roberta's Blood Trail and Guilty Crown

Anon Guilty Crown is said to be released late this year. I hope they can keep that. I am looking forward to owning it as well.
