Let us know what you think about it. I wish I had a Japanese restaurant within walking distance.

There are 2 other guys that say they want to try it, but I can never get them to have money and time at the same time. so today I finally just went over there by myself.
First impressions....... wile it has a Japanese-e feel to it, it is most certainly designed for a US market. However the Japanese steak houses I have been to in the past were just straight up buildings with nothing special about them. This one has a little bamboo garden with water fall that you have to walk through on the way to the front desk. There is a bar right as you walk in if you don't want to eat. As the hostess takes you back to get seated the first seating area is the kind that you have to step up to and sit on pillows at a table that is about 1 foot tall. Everything in this room is wood. Past this is the room that has standard tables and chairs. This is also the room that the sushi bar is located. In this room the walls are just straight up painted, but the wood floor remains. And the sushi bar and hood are all wood. There was another room on past this down the hall that I could see but I don't know what it was. I assume just more dining area. The sushi bar and the first area with the elevated seating have chopsticks/stand on the placement along with a plate. However in the area I was seated it was just a plate, napkin and fork.
The lunch menu is pretty limited, but that is to be expected. I ordered the chicken tempura. One, because I knew what to expect because I have had it a couple times before and for me a good judge is to try something that I know. Two, because I don't eat sea food unless under extreme situations.
The meal came with miso soup and rice. The broth in the soup was pretty much the best miso soup broth I have ever had. But they went a little over board on the sea weed for my taste. The tempura was very light, flakey, and slightly sweat. The dipping sauce was pretty much what I was expecting. The chicken itself was tender and moist; I was expecting it to be dry like most fried chicken tends to be that I have had. So that was a delightful surprised. And there were 6 pieces, so it was a very good serving that would easily pass for a dinner size for me.
The staff, actually Asian, were all wearing the typical wait staff/server/cook garb that one would expect from a non-family style Japanese restraint. I am pretty confident that my waitress knew as much English as I do Japanese. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
Over all my impressions are good. I will definitely return, hopefully with reinforcements next time and not just getting punked by 2 friends.
