I've only seen the OVA not the series itself, so this would be a first viewing for me.

Yes.

He likes to have his characters interact in a large universe.
So chances are you might spot stuff from Captain Harlock & Queen Esmeraldas in Galaxy Epress.

Of course a lot of the characters look a lot alike.
Especially the women.

I'm fully aware that there are many interactions and character recyclings in the Leijiverse. I was simply wondering if they were from the same series. Specifically speaking: "I Arcadia of my youth a part of Captain Harlock?" FWIW I've seen and own Galaxy Express 999, Adieu Galaxy Express 999, The Galaxy Railways (more of an homage than a part of the Leijiverse), and Gun Frontier. I own, but have not yet seen, Galaxy Express 999 Eternal Fantasy and Arcadia Of My Youth. I'm toying around with the idea of getting Galaxy Express TV Series Parts 1 & 2 and Captaqin Harlock to satisfy my completist tendencies, but I'm on the fence. I'm also fighting off the urge to dive into nendomadness because of this little beast.
