About THE THIRD: THE GIRL WITH THE BLUE EYE
The 24-episode anime, also known as "The Third - Aoi Hitomi no Shoujo," is based upon a popular series of novels and short stories written by Ryou Hoshino and illustrated by Nao Goto.

Spanning more than 16 volumes, the original fiction has appeared in Japan's Dragon Magazine since 1999, alongside the serialized novels that inspired the hit Full Metal Panic! and Slayers anime series. Additionally, a manga adaptation of The Third - which is scheduled for a Spring 2008 North American release by TOKYOPOP - ran in Dragon Age magazine, home to the Full Metal Panic!, Slayers and Chrono Crusade manga.

XEBEC (D.N.Angel, Negima!, Fafner, Elemental Gelade) produced the animation for the TV series, which ran on Japan's WOWOW satellite channel - known for original anime programming such as Cowboy Bebop, Ergo Proxy, The Big O and Paranoia Agent - from April through October of 2006.

Volumes 1 through 4 of the series are now available, with Vol. 3: Gravestone offered in two variations: a standard, disc-only edition and a limited edition that includes two, exclusive puzzles - featuring artwork from the series - plus an art box, designed to house the entire six-volume North American DVD release. Vol. 5: Shadows of the Past is due to street on March 25, 2008.

Well, considering that I had never even heard of the title until every one went crazy after you announced it. I must say that I have enjoyed it very very much.

One of the things that I enjoy about it the most is the narration. It is so calming and can be very poetic at times. It is sad to see that it is coming to an end, but you guys did a wonderful job on this one.

I have really been enjoying this series and have had volume 6 to watch all week, I keep putting it off because I don't want the series to end I think smile

I love collecting figures from anime I enjoy, I think a nice Honoka figure would be excellent, one with a removable headband revealing her forehead as well, she is after all the girl with the blue eye smile

i know the feeling. when you're just itching to watch it and see how the anime ends. and yet, then that means it's over and it's kind of like a sad yet happy thing all at the same time.

for me though, it just means more rewatchability later smile

Excuse me, My Avatar is on strike momentarily. I have most of the series and I must say it is truly awesome. I love the idea. My discussion and questions is: "Is there a follow up on the series?" They left the series at an amazing place with near limitless potentials.
I mean seriously, Honoka is young and still a little ignorant. Iks is brilliant but has to struggle with over sculpting his new found love which can easily result in crowding the relationship. The Third as to be rebuilt because Honoka wiped out their army of auto-enforces. They also have to figure out how to relate to Honoka, is she one of them, should she be a permanent leader of the third, how much say should she have, and how would you limit her influence when she can easily take over? More over her character ark, does Honoka become possessive, power hungry? She has a serious challenge now that she now has a whole life ahead of her, but the greatest of her achievements have already been done. So now what? Can she truly be just another person living in the desert? There is easily a whole new series. Additionally, the Observer, he may have been fulfilled, but the legacy of anguish and his peers that he returned too may not see it the same way. Iks the arbiter may well, have taken over, but the community he came from may not like the idea of close interaction. Although happiness can be found here an now, how long will it last and how much interference is Iks going to allow in the lives and the forces that shape everyones lives by him and Honoka?
