Like Al Bundy used to say after he saw his next door neighbor Marcy Darcy naked in Married With Children-"Oh my god-my eyes, I'm blind". That's how I feel about anything from Leiji Matsumoto-I made the mistake of buying Queen Emeraldes many years ago-I barely made it through the disc-really had to force myself to finish it, after that I was so totally done with anything by Matsumoto.

The only Matsumoto thing I own is Intestella 5555.

Of course I did watch Star Blazers & bits of that Captain Harlock & The Queen of 1000 Worlds.

Anyhow just rewatching El Cazador de la Bruja since it's been awhile I went with the dub again. Only watched the first episode, but it's still good.

I thought Arcadia of My Youth, Queen Emeraldas and Interstella 5555 were good.

They are ! grin
and Interstella 5555 is a very cool Music video like Anime with no spoken words ( except for what you can hear sung in song )
All you have to do to get into it and understand what is going on in Interstella 5555, is to read the back cover first.
( You can even learn more on-line before watching it if you want to )

I have Interstella 5555 filed in with my other one ( or two ) Disc Anime in one of my Anime Movie & Ova Collections
( It is not part of my Matsumotoverse collection, only stuff related to Harlock, Maetel & Emeraldas are in it )

I wish there was more Queen Emeraldas frown

Looks like Maetel Legend is up next.
grin

I loved Gun Frontier! I also own Railways, both Expresses, and Arcadia Of My Youth; although Arcadia Of My Youth is still in my unwatched pile. Where does Arcadia fit in your timeline B Dub?

I know the timeline for these Animes are a topic of great debate, but this is the timeline I’ve chosen.

Gun Frontier
Maetel Legend
Cosmo Warrior Zero
Vengeance of the Space Pirate
Harlock Saga
The Endless Odyssey
Galaxy Express 999
Adieu Galaxy Express 999
The Galaxy Railways
Queen Emeraldas

I have the edited English Dub version Vengeance of the Space Pirate.
My Original Quote above, shows the Timeline I’ve adopted
( If the full length version has a English dub, someone please clue me in on it )

Just finished up Maetel legend, so Cosmo Warrior Zero is up next.
The only criticism I have about Maetel legend ( and I’ve always thought this )
Was I think Lisa Ortiz ( everyone’s favorite Lina Inverse ) was the wrong choice to voice Maetel.

I just tore through volumes 4 and 5 of Brigadoon. This series continues to knock my socks off. Each episode ends with such impact that I'm like: "Whaaa? Where the h???'s the remote? C'mon, c'mon, c'mon; next episode, next episode! But then I have to rewind because I don't want to miss Marin's transition/introduction, not to mention Lolo's crazy clay intermission segways.

For real, Brigadoon will go from being action packed, to heartwarming, to tragic; and then when your guard is let down from bewilderment... it'll slap you unabashedly in the face with a streak of comedy. I'm swimming in a sea of cultural references such as Kobe's history and the love and importance of tatami mats and rolling around in the period setting of Vietnam era Japan... with multiple dimensions of course.

Brigadoon combines so many elements; but unlike so many contemporary anime, it doesn't do it for the sake of doing it. It's use of multiple genre and mediums is deliberate and inspiring, but more importantly; somehow not destructive to the continuity of the storyline and pace. On the contrary, the wild fluctuations only serve to emphasize the story that is ever so powerfully tugging on my heartstrings.

This little gem was doing it all, all the way back in '03! The intro's mix of live action and animation, Lolo's live action(?) clay segways, Marin's mega-meganekko kawaii outros, the frenetic action, the unforgettable characters, said characters' developement, the wild changes in tone; all set to the steady beat of a well choreographed storyline. Did I mention Marin's best friend's name is Moe... and she's possibly moe before moe was moe? Speculation aside, I love everything about Marin and Brigadoon. It is a true exemplar of anime excellence.

Finished the first disc of El Cazador, they really need to make more shows like this one (besides the other "Girls with guns" shows).
