So what are your top three manga? Only three slots.
Only manga.
Then discuss.
Repeat.
As for me,
1. Monster
2. BECK
3. Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro

Ah, this one will be mercifully easy for me since I'm still a relative n00b when it comes to manga.

1) Genshiken
2) Kare Kano
3) Claymore

Hmm, then again Berserk is hella-good as is Twelve Kingdoms...gah! Stay on target...the first 3 are my final answer..for now.

1. Basara
2. Cardcaptor Sakura
3. Kenshin

(Basara is way above the rest, IMO).

Claymore is awesome but i thought the Genshiken anime was much better than the manga. As for Kare Kano, meh.

You have good taste. Especially Gunslinger girl. (in my top 5)

Really? My take on Genshiken was that it followed the manga very closely and ended much sooner than the manga. I owe a great debt to the manga as it enlightened me as to the sheer volume of information that can be conveyed in a single image by a genuinely awesome mangaka. The conveyance of very subtle expressions and body language in Genshiken were incredible.

As for Kare Kano, I make no apologies for having diverse tastes. cool

Don't get mistaken, i loved the Genshiken manga but i liked the anime a bit more. Now take into account that 99% of the manga i read i feel is better than the anime and you see this is a rare circumstance. Kare Kano, still is meh in both cases. (also if you want a brilliant mangaka then read Monster, 20th Century Boys, or Pluto.)

1. Berserk
2. Deathnote
3. Beck

Monster probably will make my list, but i only read 3 volumes so far. I don't want to jump the gun

1. Berserk
2. Eden
3. Genshiken

It's very difficult to name just three. I must say I'm surprised to see so many Claymores.. it doesn't really compare to Berserk, sorry guys. The art is generic and fights are dumb.

- Mars
- Kenshin
- Azumanga Daioh (sans ADV's editing, but even with, it's still great)

There's a few others that come in very close, but those were the first three that popped into my head when I though "best of what I've read."

You really think so? As for the art i'll admit it does lack the detail present in Berserk, but Berserk's art is (to me at least) very....ummm...coarse. I'm no art professor as you can see but it seems very stylistic to me. Either way i don't think Claymore's art was bad, just not quite as good. Mediocre. The story however is quite interesting to me, as much as Berserk's. So i like both almost equally.

1) The Day of Revolution / Princess Princess / Family Complex (by Mikiyo Tsuda)
2) Fruits Basket (by Natsuki Takaya)
3) After School Nightmare (by Setona Mizushiro)

Technically, Tsuda's works are three separate titles, but they share the same characters and are set in the same world, so I think of them as one manga.

personally, i find Claymore's art more detailed and of a higher quality then Berserk. i couldn't maintain my interest in Berserk, but i love Claymore. very good art-style, attention to detail, story, characters... i could go on smile

Same here! I'm not a big fan of Berserk, but I love Claymore.

Sorry, I really don't understand it.. in Claymore, all the towns and people's faces look basically the same. I simply can't get to liking the artwork.
