Then, at last year's PhreakNIC (we have an anime room at the con), my friend Jeff included the first volume in the lineup, and I loved it. He had a couple of unopened limited editions to give away as swag, so I took one and bought the rest of the set right after the con. The series has a gritty feel to it, and most of the characters are adults. I like the main characters, especially the interaction between Saiga and his cop ex-girlfriend Ginza, who's sort of a female Dirty Harry on crack. If you take Tozawa from Witchblade and give him some intensity and a bit of an edge, you've got Saiga. Anyway, if you read a synopsis of the plot, it probably won't seem interesting (it didn't to me), but the show just works. Don't go into it expecting it to knock your favorite series from the top slot, and you'll probably enjoy it.
