Did you just watch an anime on demand? confused Was it cool? cool Is it not available on DVD (Blu-ray)? frown Do you wish that it was available on DVD (Blu-ray)? laugh

Tell us what it was. Maybe even tell us why it was so awesome. Heck, tell us why it so richly deserves a DVD (Blu-ray) release.

I just watched the first episode of Ro-Kyu-Bu! (aka Fast Break!) on "On Demand". It takes kawaii to the next level. It has a endearing mix of uber cuteness and meaningful slice of life, all wrapped up in a school sports package. Normally this is not my cup of tea, but I watched an episode on a whim and loved it... I wish there was a DVD release.

O.K., O.K.; I just watched a couple more episodes of Ro-Kyu-Bu. This anime simply must get a DVD release! I'm already freaking out because I have to wait until the next episode to find out if they win their game against the boys team. Are they gonna lose their practice time in the gym? Ahh, the anticipation is killing me!

I imagine On Demand is all dubbed? I have cable but not the box. Just a cable card so I can't use On Demand.

Some of the stuff that Anime Network airs is sub only (mentioned in an ANNCast interview), because there is no dub available.

I only have regular cable (analog), so I can't really answer your question fully.

Obviously the Funimation Channel stuff would be all dubs.

I also don't currently have the option for these.

My parents had Dish Network for a while (they switched back to Direct TV) that had the Colors HD channel on their, late at night on Friday or Saturday they had a mini-block of Funimation channel shows.

I guess Netflix streaming/instant watch could be considered "on demand" since you have to tell it you want to watch the show/movie. I used that through my parents Wii to watch several Funimation shows. This was when I was cat/house sitting when they went out of town (and I had nothing better to do, due to lack of work back then).

I have both Anime Network and Funimation On Demand through my cable provider; and to tell the truth, the shows seem to mimic their DVD/Blu-ray counterparts. If one is dubbed so is the other. If the DVD/Blu-ray is subbed, the On Demand version probably is as well.

In the case of Ro-Kyu-Bu, I just don't care that it's subbed. It's such a great anime. I don't even realize that I'm reading subtitles. It's not that I'm a fast reader, quite the contrary. Maybe it's the mark of a great anime when subtitles aren't an issue.

Ro-Kyu-Bu simply must get a DVD release. It is a Sentai Filmworks 2011 production. Can anybody here at Anime Today instill a modicum of hope that it will get a DVD release?

Ahh! Episode 4 of Fast Break just came out on On Demand! So cute, so cute, so cute; Kawaii overload! Excuse me while I collect myself... and my rotted teeth. Do ya think Mokkan can make 50 consectutive baskets? If she can, Subarun will continue coaching the team. Oh man, don't worry; I won't wreck it for ya. I wouldn't dare give out a spoiler for Ro-Kyu-Bu! Fast Break.

Wonder if they will dub it whenever it comes to DVD?

Heard a bit about it, and it does sound like something I might like, but unless it gets a dub, no thanks.

Just my preference that everything I buy must have a dub.

Very very rarely I break the rule, but it either has to be exceptional (like Millennium Actress) or part of something I really like (Magical Project S).

I'm so enamored of Fast Break that I just don't care! A hybrid (sub&dub) might be nice, but I might actually miss the original voice talent in this instance if it was dub only; especially Hina-chan. blush

Ahhh! I'm so mad! The Anime Network On Demand completely skipped over episode 8 of Ro-Kyu-Bu - Fast Break! Ahhh! Currently available through my cable provider are episodes 6, 7, and 9. Where's 8? Ahhh! I pay for this f???ing service so that I can catch every episode in my (somewhat) busy lifestyle. That is the purpose of On Demand services. Well not if they decide to just not give you an episode! I can miss episodes of shows just fine on regular free television just fine by not having time to see them! I don't have to subscribe to On Demand for that! Ahhh! I want my Ro-Kyu-Bu - Fast Break! Ahhh! Anyhoo... I apprised my cable provider of the issue and they're looking into it. Meaning they escalated the level of the issue due to myself considering dropping the service. They'll be emailing/calling me in the next week. Meanwhile no Ro-Kyu-Bu - Fast Break! for me. Ahhh! Not to mention the fact that even with resolution of my issue, by the time episode 8 (might) roll around; episode 9 might be gone and I'll still be f???ed. Ahhh! I'm sorry. My behavior's unbecoming of me, but those girls are sooo cute. I knew there was a reason for my affinity for solid media. A good ol' DVD wouldn't f??? me out of episode 8. Speaking of which, my hopes for a Ro-Kyu-Bu - Fast Break DVD are even bigger now.

Please diregard this post. As is often the case, my memory was completely incorrect. The news article (from September 9, 2011) that my tiny, pea-sized brain was struggling to remember was actually about "Angel Beats", "Clannad After Story", and "Allison and Lillia". My bad.
Ah, Kiku, you're not going to be happy about this, but there's nothing your cable provider will be able to do.

I was watching the series as it was being simulcast, and I remember The Anime Network posting a news release about three series that they screwed up the On Demand service for, and Ryo-Kyu-Bu was one of them. They apologized profusely (of course), but essentially said that there was nothing that they could do about it. If you want to see episode 8, you'll have to either buy a subscription to the streaming site, or wait for a DVD/BD.

Sorry, bud. frown

Irregardless if it's Ro-Kyu-Bu - Fast Break! or Angel Beats or whatever. It doesn't matter. I pay for the service and the service is broken. If this kind of problem is to be expected from my on demand service, I'll drop it like a bad habit. I'm paying good American dollar for those on demand services and if they can't provide it to me, I'll just spend that money on solid media. Money talks and bulls??? walks. I'm still hopeful that the problem will be addressed and all will be well. I want my Ro-Kyu-Bu! cry

My cable provider decided to give out, yet another price hike. This time, I didn't let them talk me down; and they didn't provide me with any sort of resolution... so I dropped my cable related sevices. This amounts to basically losing my access to Funimation On Demand and Anime Network On Demand. Looks like those funds will now go toward solid media purchases. I hope your ready RightStuf.

I gave up on watching anime On Demand ages ago. I'd rather fork over the money for a hard copy and have the freedom to watch shows on my own schedule than leave things up to the people who run my cable service.

Right on, although it does leave us a wee bit behind the times. On Demand subscribers have access to all the newest in new. I've had bad experiences with it though, like having an episode of a series being omitted right in the middle of the season mad no thanks. Not to mention I hate censorship. I; like yourself, am an ardent supporter of solid media. It's infinitely rewatchable, always displays at maximum definition, can be paused for days at a time if need be, has special features like OVA, has subtitle options like sign only, has cool cover art, is uncensored, has full controls (zoom, blush skip, FF1-5, RW1-5), and won't be removed from the shelf like it can from the lineup. Solid Media FTW!
