Oh, if Rightstuf were to sell Korean dramas...how much more of my money can our Dark Lord take? (I'd also like them to sell Japanese dramas, but I don't think, aside from a few exceptions like Animeigo, there are any R1 companies releasing J-dramas, and the ones that are being released are mostly, if not all, samurai related.)

In regards to K-drama, I'd recommend Dae Jang Geum. It is really fantastic, and it's the show my avatar comes from! For Japanese movies, I really liked Kamikaze Girls, which I found to quite funny. I laughed out loud several times during it.

Yeah I think rightstuf should sell korean dramas only if they can sell it cheap. I can't imagine them selling much if they're selling it for over 80 dollars.

The problem with Korean dramas is "who is the market"? There are already legal, high quality streams available for sale for major K dramas so much of the Korean American population is out. Also, K dramas do not cross over well with the whole anime scene, so it won't get much support from that angle. Since the final market is so small, I wonder if it'll even be worth translating.

Not that I'm actually advocating TRSI get into the Korean drama market (though I wouldn't complain if they did), but a lot of these shows are already translated and airing in the US with a small but dedicated audience, not all of whom are anime fans. The translations haven't always been good, though they did show a dramatic improvement from when I started to when I was forced to stop. But they are done and they are here. They just aren't being released on physical media in a completely legal fashion. Ideally (and unrealistically) I'd like to see some kind of joint venture with whoever is doing the translation and tv distribution. Heck, if PBS had gotten together with the distributor and put out dvd sets, I'd have bought them.

Oh, when I said, in not so many words, that I'd squeal like a happy fangirl if Right Stuf sold Korean dramas, I wasn't thinking about them actually doing the translations themselves, but selling DVDs created by other companies, like YA Entertainment.

Of course, Shawne gets such a large percentage of my money, it's only fair that part of it go somewhere else.

I'm a big Kaji Meiko fan, so I really enjoy AnimEigo's Lady Snowblood and Media Blasters's Female Convict Scorpion series. They're a little high on violence and sex though, seems to be the trend with edgy experimental Japanese cinema from the late 60s and early 70s.

Lady Snowblood was fantastic. Lady Snowblood 2 ... not so much.

Has anyone seen or know much about Princess Raccoon? I saw it in the musicals section at a certain store and was surprised to see it released by Geneon.
