Aria is my current top show, one I never thought would come to R1, so I had resolved to eventually save up for the Japanese R2s, a feat which would have taken many years with my current hobbies and income.

I can't wait until you make the rest of your announcements so I can throw more money at you.

I was just thinking today that wouldn't it be great if someone licensed Aria. You guys must have read my mind.
I already have 2 of the sound track albums so the boxsets will complete my collection (i wonder if would be worth getting the manga...)

The only good side about having to wait till September to get them is that it gives me more time to save up my money!

wile I am disappointed that it is sub only, especially with how wonderful of a job you did with The THIRD, I have already placed my preorder for it.
I can fully understand the reasoning’s behind the sub only, it is cheaper for you, you can get it to market much faster, and you keep all those "sub only" people happy. But I really enjoy dubs also because I just can't read that fast. Plus when I watch anime it is normally at night after I get home from work at 11pm, and I really don't want to think about anything. Dubs make it easy to turn my brain off and just veg out wile enjoying something mindlessly.

Grats and thanks TRSI and Nozomi for finally bringing this great title to R1 and I hope it does better then you hope.

Haha, you are clearly someone who 1) doesn't know what shoujo-ai is, 2) has never seen Aria or 3) most likely, both of the above.

Anyway, I did my orgasming over at AOD, but YES, ARIA. SOLD. Order was placed within minutes of 2PM CST.

Actually, the only reason this has become a trend with some recent shows is because the audience for them is so small, the licensing company can't make back the cost of producing a dub. This is the only way they can afford to bring these shows over.

Regardless, I'm tickled to death. I was almost sure they would switch up on us after it was leaked last night. But I have to say, I'm running out of titles that I want for the rest of the guesses. Right now, Nozomi has me three for three in their announcements. I can honestly say 2008 has been the best year anime wise for me in a long time, what with you guys and MB releasing everything I've been wanting.

This is one of my top picks as well, and I'm delighted. Not only is this show a good one, it's carefully researched. I've been to Venice, and location after location was already familiar to me from the various seasons of this show. I even ran across a person I could swear was an incidental character from the show! All in all, seeing the real Venice after seeing Aria is like a bizarre case of mental double vision.

Really, Shawn, good work. I hope the flyer you've taken by buying this series works out well for you. I'm buying all of it, certainly.

While it's true Aria has an all-female cast, I don't believe it even really has a hint of shoujo-ai anywhere in it. I mean, I'm sure there's doujinshi and fanfic stuff out there for it, but nothing in the actual series indicates that.

I will have to buy it (I watched it), and I will preorder it, but it's not a show I'm looking forward to all that much. Another show to buy and sit in a box on my shelf looking pretty.

On the plus side, I'm hoping the box is really pretty since most of the art in Aria is very well designed.

The art of Aria is what I love the most about it. In all reality, it is the kind of title that I find incredibly boring. But, for me at least, the art and characters are just so incredibly beautiful. The sound track is also something that I am really looking forward to and would also like to see added at some point. Maybe even an extra pack in with the box if it can still be added at this stage.

There are only 3 episodes left of the origination that I have not seen and because I have enjoyed it on many levels to this point I am buying it without any hesitation. I just wish there was a dub maybe a re-release in a couple years if it does well only with a dub that time? Maybe?
