Not that common! You'll have to shop around online, since the major retailers are forced to sell R1 only players.

something to consider: Try googling for DVD Players that are cheap & easily hackable.
Most require nothing more than pressing a couple specific buttons in sequence upon the remote controller.

..I purchased an all region DVD/BluRay player from HKFlix because I wanted a top quality one,.. but there are much cheaper options.

Try googling the DVD player model that you already own: you may very well already own a player that can be easily modded.

i actually don't even own dvd player I still use my og xbox....which I might add I'm alittle afraid to put dvds in with some of the noises that thing makes nowadays. But any suggestion on player brands that might be best to look for? Or does it really matter? Imma a simpleton when it comes to almost anything electronic other than plugging it and minor settings. lol

Another tip: if you wind up purchasing a new player specifically for region free: Also be certain that it offers proper PAL/NTSC conversion.
Televisions in EU are PAL & televisions in NA are NTSC,.. 1. without proper conversion the film may not look quite right. 2. without the ability to convert, some players won't work with certain disks at all.

Yeah I was tempted to ask what PAL, was I kept seeing that word while searching was alittle confused.

JuggaSiC, I sent you a PM regarding the players I currently use. FYI...

Regions = DVD Region Codes and BD Region Codes

DVD Formats = NTSC, PAL, SECAM

Modified players do two things, sometimes three (well, there are other mod features, but these are the ones relevant to the conversation):

1) play discs of any region code;
2) accept all DVDs, regardless of NTSC, PAL, or SECAM formats;
3) convert all content to the native format for your region.

Most off-the-shelf players won't play anything outside of their region formats, and most TVs won't display signals of formats that aren't used within their regions of the world. Even most modern HDTVs sold today in the U.S.A. don't accept PAL and/or SECAM signals, so if that's the case with your TV (check the manual or the manufacturer's website), you'll need either a player that can convert all DVD content from PAL/SECAM to an NTSC signal for your TV, or you'll need a converter box between the player and your TV.

If your TV can handle all types of formats, then all you'll need is a player that can play discs of the various formats without converting them. So, the first thing you need to do is find out exactly what your TV is capable of displaying.
