Actually, I haven't even tried. I've been so busy making up for lost time on Demon's Souls (by far, the best game of this generation), that everything else is on the back burner. I'll let you know.

My original JP 60GB PS3 died about a year ago. Obviously SCEA wouldn't touch it, and I wasn't trying to pay $150 to get it repaired with just a 30 extended warranty anyway, as I've heard of many repaired PS3s dying again shortly after being revived. Luckily some people still really want 60GB JP PS3s, so I was able to sell my broken system for $400 (and yes, I let them know it was broken) and used that to buy the LE Gunmetal MGS4 PS3. Hopefully that never gives me any trouble because I have no interest in the hideous slim, and Sony really needs to lower their repair fee and extended the not so extended warranty.

As for the slim PS3, I don't like it. Yes, it's much smaller, but it's a castrated version of the original, and it doesn't have the pretty finish. Also, while the fan makes less noise that the original console, the disc drive is much louder when loading. I just hope this is the last PS3 I'll have to buy.

Have you ever thought of getting a refurbished PS3? I know that places like gamestop and others do that with the consoles that come in from users that don't want (or use or whatever) them. The local store here has the refurbished 360 for under $200. So i thought i'd ask and see if you had at least condiderd that as an option.

No, I just don't like the idea of used/refurbished items. I'm sure you can get some value for less money, but I'd rather pay more for something brand new (assuming it works). I know that I can't get a "real" PS3 (Emotion Engine, etc.) new anymore, but a used one simply doesn't appeal to me.

Umm, can you point me in their direction? For $400.00, I'd consider letting go of my precious doorstop.

Oh, it has to be a Japanese model? No, mine is American, although it's an original launch model. I don't necessarily want to part with it, but for $400.00, I'd make an exception. Oh, well.

Yeah the Japanese models go for more... You can buy refurbished 60GB US models from GameStop for $330... http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=64006

Do you know whether they do their own refurbishing?

Gamestop does their own refurbishing, which is partly why I personally steer clear of their used/refurbished systems. I don't recall one good outcome every time I've tried with something that wasn't brand new.
