One of the newer programs we have here at Right Stuf is "STUF for Clubs," our club for anime clubs.

As part of that, we're going to start posting excerpts of each month's club e-mail. If you're interested in finding out more (and finding out if your organization is eligible), please e-mail animeclubs@rightstuf.com.

Stuf for Clubs Newsletter, July 2008

Hey Anime Fans!!

Many of you may have heard about the meteorological pummeling our state is taking—what with the humongous tornadoes and record flooding we've been experiencing. Out of 99 counties in Iowa, 83 are federally-declared disaster areas! Somehow, our little (okay, huge) building has escaped unscathed, but the weather has made transportation and staffing and issue, so we are a bit behind on our orders. We are doing everything we can to catch up, and we thank you for your patience. We also send our heartfelt support to our fellow Iowans who have been directly affected or displaced by the sever weather we have been facing.

Now that we're towards the end of June, the convention season has entered full-swing. According to Animecons.com, there are no less than 45 conventions during the months of June, July, and August! There are plenty of huge anime conventions to attend, and quite a few local ones as well—heck, some of the people on our Stuf for Clubs roster help organize them! If you’ve never considered going to an anime convention before, now is the perfect time to see what local conventions you might attend on www.animecons.com, and organize a club field trip.

And now for the newsletter question of the month!

Our last newsletter's question was: "When a series is released in both anime and manga forms, which do you normally prefer and why?"

Here's what you said:

• Clay S. responded, "I read both, but I prefer manga, because the story goes more in-depth, and unfolds faster. I suggest that individuals unsure of either should look at what they have access to...look for manga based on the anime that you like watching."

• Kristina P. mused, "It depends on the series. Shoujo (girl's) manga are usually better than the anime. However shounen (boy's) anime are often better because action scenes are easier to follow—you can actually tell what is happening during a fight. I usually end up watching the anime and reading the manga."

• Katelyn C. said, "Both! Its great to see both interpretations of the series, and it's fun to see your favorite manga characters come to life!"

Thanks for your responses! Here's this newsletter's new question: “"What kind of interesting club activities do you hold aside from the normal anime viewings?"

Send your responses to animeclubs@rightstuf.com and we'll hand-pick a few responses for our next newsletter!
