Bummer. Well, I hope you're still able to enjoy your birthday despite the void that the not getting a new deadly weapon leaves. I prefer to think that you meant Deadly Sword Warehouse rather than Discount Shoe Warehouse so I've already concluded that you splurged and got some boot-knives (and not those crappy brittle Hollywood types that last all of 20 seconds either). Cheers to the Blade Princess!

Well, there's not much room for a knife here or here, but I'll see what I can do... maybe a purse tanto?

By the way... a PS3 game to which I'm currently addicted, Demon's Souls, has a black skeleton that wields two uchigatana. He just stares at you until you get close to him, but once you invade his personal space, he quickly slices you up. As the image indicates, he exhales fire, but he doesn't use it as a weapon. It's just his way of saying "this is not where you want to be."

Actually, there are several of those skeletons, and sometimes after killing one, you get to pick up one of the uchigatana. Your character has to reach a certain experience level to be able to use one (or two of them), but it's my favorite melee weapon in the game, so far. If you have several weak enemies directly in front of you, it will cut them all down in one motion. I can picture Toshiro Mifune nodding in approval each time I use it. lol

There are two other katanas in the game, but I haven't yet acquired them.

Ah, Toshiro Mifune, rest his soul. I think if I could meet anyone it would be him.
You guys no a lot about swords. I envy you. I was thinking whole-heartedly about collecting Japanese katana but never initiated it. Perhaps if I can find a gun & knife show like Hobby Ninja went to then I could start getting serious. I think it would be easier for me to see the items rather than research them to light a fire under my rear to get myself going on that. I would have bought that sword for $400 on the spot probably too, without knowing what it was other than just a Japanese Sword.
If I get time though...

Not that he was one dimensional, but Mifune was perfect for those idealistic samurai roles. It's difficult for me to read about Japanese history without thinking of his image.

Oh, and I now have all of the nihonto in the game Demon's Souls. There's an NPC named Satsuki who's searching for his family's lost sword, the Magic Sword "Makoto," and he asks you to find it for him. I found the sword, but I kept it for myself, and never got back with Satsuki. lol

Ahh, the legendary grass cutter. I could have used one of those on the lawn this weekend.

That was great. I've seen a few shows specifically about Japanese sword making but I hadn't seen that one before. Perhaps at some point I'll finally come across a show that will satiate my curiosity about yumi as well.

I haven't seen any shows dedicated to yumi. If you find any, please let me know.
