In the early 24th century, Mars has been terraformed by mankind into a sparkling planet covered in water. Akari Mizunashi, at the age of 15, has left everything behind to travel to that reborn world, now known as Aqua. More than anything, Akari wants to be an "undine" - a female gondolier who navigates the canals of the Aquan city of Neo-Venezia. As she begins her training with the prestigious Aria Company, will she be up to the challenges that await her on the path to achieve her dream? Contains the complete 13-episode first season.

Every day they train toward their goal, exploring all the wondrous sights that the water-covered planet Aqua has to offer. Whether it's spending a wild day at Carnevale, sharing a beautiful sunset, or even crossing paths with the mysterious spirits that dwell in Aqua's shadows, for these three friends, each day is a new adventure! Aria The Origination (Season 3) + Arietta OVA Litebox

As winter melts into spring, Akari, Aika and Alice continue to work hard to become Neo-Venezia's top gondoliers. Aika starts to take on more responsibility around Himeya; Alice travels up the challenging canal near Hope Hill; even Akari spends a day working on a huge gondola called a traghetto! But there's still so much to learn... and the final test to become a Prima, which once seemed so far off in the future, might not be so far off anymore. January 8, 2013: Nozomi ENTERTAINMENT Announces the Litebox-style DVD release of ARIA The ORIGINATION + OVA

Nozomi Entertainment is pleased to announce that ARIA The ORIGINATION + OVA Litebox will be available on May 6, 2014.

This new, value-priced DVD set will contain the final 13-episodes of the ARIA anime series, a DVD only bonus episode and ARIA The OVA ~ARIETTA~. It features Japanese audio, English subtitles and on-screen translation. On-disc extras will include picture dramas 1-7, clean closing, U.S. trailer, cast discussion on ARIA, director discussion on ARIA, SATOJUN's "Venice, I'm Sorry!" Right Stuf and its Nozomi Entertainment division announced Aria the Animation DVD collection will be released on October 1, 2013. This new Litebox-style DVD re-release will contain the first 13-episodes of the Aria anime series. It will feature Japanese audio, English subtitles and on-screen translations. We just unleashed the "official" solicitation for the ARIA The Animation DVD Collection, which is scheduled to street on September 30, 2008, and will feature the series' complete, 13-episode first season.

The ARIA anime is helmed by Director Junichi Sato (Princess Tutu, Sgt. Frog, Sailor Moon/ Sailor Moon R) and features animation by Hal Film Maker (Boys Be..., Pretear, Slayers Premium, Sketchbook ~full color'S~). The franchise's third season, ARIA The ORIGINATION, completed its TV Tokyo broadcast in March 2008.

May 1, 2008: ARIA on DVD!

More About Aria the Anime

Based on Kozue Amano's best-selling ARIA manga, the ARIA anime consists of three television seasons - ARIA The ANIMATION, ARIA The NATURAL and ARIA The ORIGINATION - plus an OVA (original video animation). The entire anime adaptation features direction by Junichi Sato (Princess Tutu, Sgt. Frog, Sailor Moon/ Sailor Moon R) and animation by Hal Film Maker (Boys Be..., Pretear, Slayers Premium, Sketchbook ~full color'S~).

Amano's 12-volume ARIA manga and its two-volume prequel, AQUA, were both published in North America by TOKYOPOP. In Japan, the ARIA manga was originally serialized in MAG Garden's Comic Blade magazine.
