Samurai Deeper Kyo DVD 1 (Hyb): The Demon Awakens (Eps 1-5)
Dark horse - Mar 19 2003 ssdarkhorse@yahoo.com Rating: Wonderful! it's a 10 I would like to go on record, by saying that this is the best series that I have seen so far. I have been a Japanese’s amine fan, all of my life. Samurai Deeper tops all the amines’ series that I had watched: series like Dragon Ball Z, Samurai Deeper blows DBZ out of the water, sorry Z fans and series like Gundam too. Sorcerer Hunters, don’t get me wrong, I liked Sorcerer Hunters, but it wasn’t as tight as Samurai Deeper; Arcthelad, should have stayed a video game. Samurai Deeper and Arc both have people that can turn into masters, but Samurai Deeper men or women’s masters are more colorful and spirited. Samurai Deeper, surpasses Rurouni Kenshin and Berserk, it just blows those amines away. Samurai Deeper main two characters, Kyoshiro Sama and Kyo the Demon Eyes faces off on the battle field, there is a war going on around them, everything focuses on the battle of these two characters. The battle of Kyoshiro and Kyo starts off the series. The show leaves the battle and goes into the story. Kyoshiro seems to be a dope and a perp. Kyoshiro meets a petty girl name Shiina Yuya and that is when his troubles began. On DVD 1, Kyoshiro is placed in life or death straggles and the only way out is to let Kyo the Demon Eyes take control. After the 3eps, the dominating character is Kyo and he kicks some serious butt. All the fighting in this series is about being the best. The fighting is not about revenge nor hate, friends as well as anomies fight just to be the best. The actions just keep coming, the animation is great, the plot is complex and well put together, and ingenious dialogue. The end of this series end like the beginning, Kyoshiro and Kyo face off to see who is the best and friends that accompany Kyoshiro and Kyo on their journey, are fighting a war against each other. K L. Hunter - Jul 3 2003 Rating: Pretty good! "Potential" This is not a bad anime. It has the potential to be really good. I think that the actions screens need to be just that, the talking and drama during the action screens are frustrating. Besides that it is what DarkHorse above said. Handel S. Williams - Jul 5 2003 Prodigal22@aol.com Rating: Wonderful! Curiouser and curiouser I won't lie, this whole disc is a teaser for the rest of the series. Everytime you get an answer here, two more questions will pop up. ANd that will just make you want more. Top that off with two main characters: one perverted idiot, the other a crazed killer (or is he) that just happen to be the same person! What the hell is going on here! You just have to see it for yourself. donkey a. kong - Aug 9 2003 dualexaust@aol.com Rating: Wonderful! do yourself a favor do yourself a favor and import this off ebay. you can get the whole series for 20 bucks and see it all now.. other wise you will have to wait till like march next year to own it all. besides the jap box set is like the size of a dvd and half while this american junk takes up 7 dvd space. Big O. Pig - Aug 9 2003 big0big@yahoo.com Rating: Wonderful! Great, but i went Japanese without subtitle Samurai deeper is a bag of chips and more, but my problem is with Madia Blaster. Why does Madia Blaster only offer three choices for audio? English, English with subtitle, or Japanese’s with English subtitles. I would have to say that it sucks, if you don’t think so, then try English with subtitles. By the way, I don’t know how many of ya’ll are Berserk fins and if you have notes DVD 1-5 only offer English, English with Sub, and Japanese with Eng Sub. PS if Madia Blaster read this, I wish that they offer Japanese only too. duak exaust - Dec 29 2003 Rating: Wonderful! good series rurouni kenshin is my favorite anime of all time... and needless to say this anime is very simular. sure their is alot of differences but its obvious this anime was created with kenshin in mind (cross shaped scar on the back? common!) and while this series lacks the story of kenshin (there could be a better story if a movie or ova or even a 2nd season came out) it has to pack everyone's history into a 26 episode show which can be rather hard. everything feels rushed because they only have a set amount of time to explain everything. kenshin is alot better but considering kyo is basically a copy of it its surprisingly good. highly reccomended Daniel K. Ramirez - Sep 1 2004 hafbreed50@hotmail.com Rating: Pretty good! Okay, not bad, not bad at all..... Okay, let me just say that I watch tons and tons of anime and I read manga whenever possible. So on with the review then. This is a decent anime with pretty good action. (unlike the other person who wrote a review on this anime who is completly wrong, this does not blow DBZ out of the water) and I am no avid fan of DBZ I like it but i'm not all into it. I can definately say this, that this is not better than the Rurouni Kenshin series or OVA, nor is it a better series than Gundam Wing or Gundam Seed, unless you don't like mech anime then it would be better than a Gundam series. This anime has good action, with a pretty decent plot but for the special move that Kyo does, they just repeat basically the same thing over and over and over again, which does kinda suck. You don't get to see the nice Kyo that often like you see in the manga, and to me it just seems like that kinda rushed the ending a bit. Overall its worth having in your anime collection but don't count on this being better than Rurouni Kenshin or DBZ or the recent Gundam series... Kristopher C. Leeke - Nov 5 2004 Rating: Pretty good! Review of DVD 1 Very good title. The mix of actual history and fiction was done very well. The special features aren't bad. The best bonus is the bloopers. The V.O.'s are pretty good to. I would recomend this title. Chris M. Norton - Jun 5 2005 Rating: "Okay." Meh, it's a decent series The series is okay. The actual character designs are nicely done and the overall appearance of the characters looks pretty good. That said, the fight scenes are lacking and the animation quality faulters in them. The story is good, but not excellent. They certainly could have expanded on the whole Kyo/Kyoshiro, same body inhabitance deal, a bit more to make the story more involved and give it a few more twists. Either way, it's not a terrible series. It's certainly doesn't top the Rurouni Kenshin TV series, let alone the OAV's, but it's okay in it's own right. I personally borrowed it from a friend, and can honestly say, that had I bought it, I wouldn't have been terribly disappointed, but after borrowing it I certainly won't buy it for myself. |
