From the internationally renowned film auteur "Beat" Takeshi Kitano (Zatoichi, Brother, Fireworks), comes a rare piece of literary fiction. Boy is a collection of three heart-warming stories of brotherhood, boyhood, and friendship.
In the first story, "Champion in a Padded Kimono," two brothers, one a jock and the other a brain, individually contemplate what it would mean to win the upcoming track and field relay race. While one obsesses over the race, the other feigns complete indifference... until it seems the bookworm might actually get a chance at beating everyone to the finish line.
The second story, "Web of Stars," is about two young brothers who are into astronomy, a hobby introduced to them by their recently deceased father. Their widowed mother takes them to Osaka, where the kids at their new school quickly turn these wide-eyed boys into the brunt of jokes.
On "Okamesan," a 16-year-old boy named Ichiro goes on his first solo vacation. Ichiro is a self-described "history buff," boasting membership in his private high school history club and refusing to go to any cheap tourist traps. While conducting his own brand of "research," he runs into a girl from the wrong side of the tracks whose insider look at the city leaves Ichiro penniless and wanting more.
