Might Love or Hate It
While I’m not quite sure that it lived up to the hype that followed it, it certainly earned it. The story presented in this series is strong in how different it is. It’s a slow moving, quiet, character drive period drama. Once you move past the differences and look at the series for what it is, you’re still left with something above average.

The characters and story are strong in their own ways. While the pacing and humor of the series will try the patience of everyone at some point, the romance and characters will keep you coming back. I can understand someone loving this series but I can also someone saying that they hated it. There is a middle ground though and even though I never found myself particularly attached to this series I was sad to see the first season end. I may not be counting down the days until I see the second season but I am at least left with wanting more.

Very nice
I have always been some what of a romantic guy. My father was this way my brother is that way also. it just a gimme that i would follow in their footsteps. which is why i love this series. It might be slow like other say. The humor in this is just like real life. it doesn't jump out at you every frigging second. but it is there. the Characters are well done the art work is great. the story line is nice but slow. but i still like it. not every animation has to have things blowing up or things that make you laugh every two seconds or be out right silly. This one is a breath of fresh air. I love this series. It might not be for every one since being a romantic is out of style these days for men i guess. I guess most men wouldn't admit to liking this one. but i have a feeling that romantic men are still out there we just hide it way more then we used to. so keep looking ladies. we are out there. just hard to find.

Anime with a heart of gold
Not all anime has to be full of big mecha, big guns, or big dysfunction (yes I'm looking at you Shinji!), to make a big impression. This story's strengths are in characterization, subtlety, and great writing. In an anime where the biggest cliffhanger of the first few episodes involves our heroine taking a different route home from market, mundane pleasures and good conversation is the rule of the day. Quiet, introspective and endearing, this show brims with genuine emotion not mere sentimentality.

If you are a fan of Victoriana, Maids, and ill-fated romance (or is it? no spoilers here!), this is the show for you. If you're looking to introduce a mother/girlfriend/sister to the world of anime, I recommend Emma: A Victorian Romance. An excellent choice for anyone. It’s like settling into your favorite cushy chair with a good book and a cup of tea ... and don't forget Season 2!
