It something different
It was more different then I thought it would be. But I still like it all in all. But I think I am still a little lost on the plot of the movie. But I guess I will just have to watch the other to actually understand the the hole series. If I could I would rate this movie with about a 7/10. Will I hope that the rest of the series will be able to help my understanding the whole series.

What is up
Um Hack\\Sign, it seems that we have indifference view about it. Right, I know that this anima isn?t for everyone. Hack\\Sign caters to people with a higher level of intelligence. Please don?t get me wrong, something I like brained dead stuffs like blood and guts and knowing clearly who is the good guy and who is the bad guy. Hack\\Sign goes be on those basics and it is an anima in its own class. I have seen the whole series and I can tell you that the first DVD is important. The bottom line is one of the characters can?t log out. WHY? If you had played around in a chat room before or played games online. The game is called the World in Hack\\Sign, which allows people to go inside it from their PC. So for just one a moment, just imagine playing in a game that seems real as the world that we live in. I am trying my best not to tell you about the whole series. But there is one character who cannot log out in this story. Keep in mind that this one character, whom cannot log out isn?t using a PC or any other type of device to log on. Also, he or she is badly hurt lying in a hospital hanging on by a thread.

What I like most about Hack\\Sign is there isn?t really know good guys or bad guys. The series Hack\\Sign is very sophisticated and well done. The story line is out of this world and the animation is beautiful. The best way that I can describe Hack\\Sign is that it is a hurricane: first there the fears that you made not live though it; second dealing with your losses after a hurricane; third walking around like the living dead; last but least people you don?t even know help save you from the horror of life. Sorry, but for me Hack\\Sign is just beautiful-b-beau-tiful

Deep and thoughtful
.hack//SIGN is one of those rare series that asks the viewer to think about things. Where Ghost in the Shell pondered what it means to be Human, .hack//SIGN calls on the viewer to think about what reality itself means. Does objective reality exist or is reality a matter of perspective? .hack//SIGN examines and questions this issue.

And the setting is the perfect place to raise these issues. .hack//SIGN takes place inside an online role playing game and the fantasy world of "The World" is brilliantly realised. This series really takes you in to this amazing place known as "The World". We meet a cast of unique characters. Tsukasa, a player who cannot log out for some reason. Mimiru, a newer player who gets wrapped up in the mystery of Tsukasa. Bear, an older and more experienced player. Subaru, who seems to be in charge and seeks answers to Tsukasa's mystery.

The writing for .hack//SIGN is deep and thoughtful, on the level of Ghost in the Shell or Evangelion. The pacing allows the viewer to watch as the story unfolds and becomes more complex. Along the way we get further insights into each character. I am looking forward to the rest of the series so I can learn more about the characters and find out what Tsukasa's story really is.

The animation is fluid and beautiful to watch and the musical score by Yuki Kajiura (the composer of Noir) is spellbinding.

.hack//SIGN is a series I cannot recommend strongly enough. .hack/SIGN is an intelligent anime made for intelligent viewers! Of course, you have the character designer of Evangelion, the screenwriter for Ghost in the Shell and the director of Noir collaborating on .hack//SIGN, so I do not see how this series could be anything less than outstanding. Destined to be a classic!

If you own a PS2, then I strongly recommend you get this series along with the games: .hack//Infection and .hack//Mutation. The games are a lot of fun to play and come with .hack//Liminality, an OAV that shows what happens in the real world while .hack//SIGN and the games follow events in "The World'. If you do not own a PS2, don't worry about it. You each version of .hack stands on its own and you do not need to follow the games to be able to follow the anime (although you will get a fuller experience if you follow both).

Interesting, to say the least.
I've been watching this show on Cartoon Network, and I have to say that it's pretty decent, what with raising philosophical questions such as what "reality" truely is and what not.

However, the first DVD is kinda boring. Granted, the series picks up, especially if you're open-minded and liked Trigun for more than "Duh, it's got cool gunfight scenes!", but c'mon! Give us action fans a little hack-and-slash!

In all, I'd say that you should really only buy this if you don't mind that the first DVD is slow.

"Lagging" is good, in this case.
At first, .hack//SIGN may appear to be either a boring show, or an interesting story moving at a slow pace. I think it's very interesting and the story does move slowly, but in the end, I thought the first volume was great. You'll meet a few interesing characters and many of their multiple situations (one of the reasons why the show moves slowly). It can get a bit confusing and thankfully there is a "terminology" insert included for those who don't know what things like "Spirte Orcarinas" are (etc.). If you pay attention, you may enjoy the show as well. A few more bonus points for this title - beautiful animation (and excellent DVD video transfer) and an excellent soundtrack done by Yuji Kajiura.
