3 x 3 Eyes DVD Collection (Hyb)
Erin Sinclair - Mar 7 2001 Rating: Wonderful! At long last, the series has been released in its entirety. I am so happy to finally have the entire series both ova's available on a two DVD set. Not only that but I can watch it in Japanese with English subtitles for the first time. The dub version is pretty good and it's much better than the old Streamline dub. I enjoyed it very much and think it's worth buying even though it's more than the average DVD (but you get a lot more than an average DVD). Amano - Mar 24 2001 Rating: Wonderful! In a word "Awesome" Definitely a great series full of action, demons & adventure.A very good edition indeed that should be added to any anime collector's library.Although I wish that there were more episodes to the series but it's something you will not regret if you acquire this awesome 2 DVD set. Shingetta - Jun 4 2001 corgreen@coqui.net Rating: Wonderful! AMAZING story and AMAZING japanese's voice acting!!! I saw this DVD version of 3x3 Eyes and is was SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!! Contains a cool animated menu, voice actor's photos, the two languages (Japanese and English), art gallery, tattoos and more... This is MASTERPIECE. I heard the two languages and the Japanese track was the one who ate the whole serie, the English track dissappointed me because I heard it in the first version of 3x3 EYES and it was pretty cool but this Pioneer version the voice acting is different and no good. If you are searching for Animes with real cool endings 3x3 Eyes is one of them. The ultimate battle between good and evil is on 3x3 Eyes. BUY IT!!!! Sayonnara, Adios, Goodbye Dark Princess - Aug 21 2001 Rating: Wonderful! I was very impressed I never saw 3x3 before, but I got the DVD on a friend's reccommedation. I was not disappointed. The show is truly a classic. The anime in the first disc is a little dated (the second disc is much better), but the story is so engaging that I really didn't care. The voice acting in the English and Japanese were both great. I never saw the Streamline version (though many tell me it was bad), but I like the English actors in this version. Christian Campbell is a dead-on Yakumo and Brigitte Bako does a nice Pai. I even loved Keith David's cameo in disc #1, very funny. The story in the first disc is better (I cried at the end). The second disc is fine, but it definitely leaves you wanting more. Hey Pioneer! Pick up this title and produce the rest of the manga as a TV series!!! Dark Princess David G. Miller - Dec 30 2001 Rating: Wonderful! Great action, captivating visuals, lovable characters, wacked theology. I found this series to be very entertaining and well acted, and really strange. Monsters, demons, immortals, exorcists, cultist, lost civilizations, transvestites, tibeten monks, high schoolers, and more. I was rivited to the screen, and watched both discs (ALL 270 MINUTES) back to back. However I was really pissed that after all that they didn't resolve the first plot point and finish the story! BASTARDS!! Oh well what are we going to do? I guess if we wanted neat stories with happy endings we'd be watching Disney. I'm not going to give anything away, but if you like action and the bizarre this has both in spades! domekata F. solecko - Jul 15 2002 goodbadugly@prodigy.com Rating: Pretty good! Not the best of anime, but still pretty cool I thought 3x3 eyes was an original anime. There are better, but if you're looking for a nice, fresh, well made anime to sit down to and have a load of fun with, this is one of them. Whether you like action, romance, horror, western, sci-fi, or drama, or any other anime, you'll have a good time with this anime. I would recommend this anime to everyone except people who strictly only like anime like Gundam or any cyborg movies bob squire - Nov 22 2002 enchant@ozemail.com.au Rating: "Okay." what made it special has been removed... This brilliant little anime appeared, dubbed in english, nearly 10 years ago. It remains a captivating story...but it wasn't untill I purchased the new "collectors edition" that I realised what made it so special. The original dub in english, with a finely nuanced Voice of Pai (the central character) and a script which values, and leaves intact pivotal words in japanese, untranslated is superior. Sadly, its missing from this "collectors edition". Presented here is a finely filleted fish of the original...the music sound unbalanced and Pai rather than sounding innocent...sounds stupid. Dissapointing... though it's nice to see the visuals with digital clarity. Mojo Shojo - Jan 16 2003 Rating: "Okay." Disappointing. I love dvd 1, but was utterly disappointed with the weird way the plot goes in dvd 2, and the overall cliffhanger of an "ending", if you want to call it that. I think I will have to get the manga. Do yourself a favor and buy dvd 1 separately, instead of this garbage. Dvd 2 made me want to kill myself, it was that bad. Edward Swing - Apr 19 2004 Rating: Wonderful! Wonderful characters This DVD set was a treat. The characters are believable and endearing. I loved teh development of Pai and Yakumo's relationship. It was refreshing to see the characters admit their feelings (particularly after watching Ranma :) Of the episodes, the first disc/story-arc is definitely the better of the two. The second disc was a bit of a let-down, and it seemed the pacing was a little rushed. Furthermore, I thought the changing nature of the character's identities was a little weird. I can only assume it makes a little more sense to someone with more Buddhism in their culture. For those fans of Disney's Gargoyles (OK, its not anime, but...), there are some hidden treats on the English dub. A number of the voice actors from Gargoyles also supplied the voices. Hearing Peter (Goliath) David's voice as a sexually ambivalent character was hilarious. And if you listen to the bum humming near the beginning of the first episode (again, Peter David), he's humming the Gargoyles theme! I wish there were more episodes. I'd definitely buy them. It would be good to see the second disc expanded into a less-rushed, and more conclusive, story. |
