Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood DVD Collection 1 (Hyb)

Rating: Pretty good!
Good expansion on the original FMA
I've only seen this 1st collection of FMA: Brotherhood, and have enjoyed this reboot/extension of the original FMA so far. This set collects 33 episodes. The first 10 or 12 episodes recap a significant part of the original FMA, and then we gradually get introduced to a much broader, and more desperate, world. By episode 18, we are in new territory almost all the time.
FMA:B adds international tension and war to the internal civil war and treachery of FMA. A couple of new "foreign" characters (and minions) from Xing are added to the playing board. A new "domestic" military leader in the Northern District becomes a significant player toward the end of this collection.
The major Homunculi demonstrate greater powers in FMA:B and are correspondingly harder to deal with. There's significantly more focus on King Bradley, his background and powers. Roy Mustang is more explicit about his ambition to become King. The Elric brothers, Mustang and their allies learn that the Homunculi are running the country, and know practically all their secrets, much earlier in FMA:B than the original.
So, by the end of this 1st FMA:B collection, there are significant departures from the original FMA and I'm looking forward to watching the other half of the show.
