Gasaraki DVD Perfect Collection (1-8) (Hyb)
Goh Mifune - Jan 4 2003 gohmifune@yahoo.com Rating: Wonderful! A fantastic show that deserves the exposure of shows like Evangelion and Nadesic Well, straight to the review. The main point I would like to make is that this ADV which means voice actors you've only heard in ADV releases. Now, the second point I would like to make is the fact that the voice audio is not loud enough sometimes, but other than that, It's all pluses. The show itself is a good mix of X-Files and Gundam. It's all about conspiracies that get resolved in a few episodes after their introduction. Now there are two things that need to be pointed out. It is compicated to follow. Not as complicated as Boogiepop Phantom, but a little more than The X-Files. The Story itself is an incredible one taking the viewer througha personal journey of nearly every single main character in the show. You begin to feel for the characters, and understand thier problems and situations. Even if you don't care for a character or their belief or their problem you still understand. That is what is cool about the show. Another notable aspect is the fact that the Giant Robots, called Tactical Armors and Fakes aren't emphasized, as quoted from the show itself, "They are just a means to an end." Music is incredible especially halfway through there is a flashback episode that has a remixed version of the opening theme. The video is nice nothing extrordinary, but more than watchable. The Disc itself has me conflicted, it's good it gives you more than you could ever want in the way of extras, evan on the final disc I believe every single opening and closing is presented. On the negative side, trailers are presented on the frontend, before you get to the main menu. This is constant throughout the first four discs. It's not welcomed. There are also alot of things that are there to clarify the story on each disc, mainly character descriptions, DO NOT READ THESE FIRST. These are major spoilers, and will ruin some of the show. Now the worst part of the show isn't the show itself, but the trailers on the front end. The best part is easily the ride of watching a whole series like this in a short time span. The ending is worth it alone. Gasaraki is a fantastic show that deserves the exposure of shows like Evangelion and Nadesico. say soun - Jan 4 2003 Rating: Wonderful! wonderful i was a little hesitant on whether i should get this series or not because of the two bad reviews given for the first dvd. however, i am glad i didn't listen to them because this is a great series. the story does start off kind of slow but once it gets going, there is no looking back. what really pulled me in is the plot. the plot is pretty complex but not to the point of evangelion or boogiepop phantom. unlike eva or boogiepop, two of my faves, you won't get a cranial migrane trying to figure stuff out because as the series goes on everything starts to unravel itself. i also love the fact that they tried to make the series as if it is a real war happening right here and now with all of the news reports to break up some of the action. wonderfully done. Daniel K. Ramirez - Apr 16 2003 hafbreed50@hotmail.com Rating: "Okay." Eh, it was okay, nothing epic Well what can I say about this anime??? Well first of all I love anime with robots so you would think I would like or love this anime, but the cold hard fact of it is that I thought this was just okay. It a great buy on special for like $60 bucks, but beyond that I wouldn't have bought it. The general plot is alright, the beginning is slow but when the action and plot start its get pretty good (not great but just good). I liked all the ploting of the different people. It just could have been so much more. I thought the ending could have been better and I mean a lot better. I am not going to ruin it by saying anything about the ending but, just don't expect anything to grand or great. As a matter of fact don't expect anything great or grand about Gasaraki as a whole, its just okay.... It doesn't hold a candle to Evangelion or Escaflowne (both awesome), not even a little minature candle.... jason wagner - May 22 2003 animaster887@aol.com Rating: Wonderful! great This anime is really good. It is very realistic, has good animation, good music, good battles. It's story is very complex and you need to watch most of the series to apreciate it, I don't suggest buying every dvd seperatly. The opening animation changes every few episodes and during a few of the episodes the song and animation are completely different. There are problems though. The main character is pretty boring, and so are a few others. The religous stuff in it seemed to be in the wrong place, something like that shouldn't be mixed in with an otherwise realistic series. The ending is also very quick, the series had some steam going and they just wrapped up the series in 2 episodes, and for political correctness the changed afghanistan or belgistan. If you liked the Patlabor movies then you'll like this alot, plus it is cheap at about 50 dollars. besides, if you don't like it you might be able to sell it on e-bay and actualy make a proffit. Richie Ranta - Oct 2 2004 rranta@sbcglobal.net Rating: Wonderful! "I couldn't stop watching it.. I sort of like Mecha's, so I thought I would give this a watch over. Wow. If you liked "Gundam Wing" and all of the rest of the mecha's, you'll love this. I wish "Gundam Wing" had these designed mechas. The story will keep you wondering whats going to happen and its fun too. Why this hasn't been broadcasted is a mystery to me. ROY A. SANDOW - Dec 2 2004 ROYSCARTOON@YAHOO.COM Rating: Pretty good! AWE-SUM A VERY GOOD STORY TO WATCH. THE ENDING WAS SUPENSFUL. |
