A cut above most!
The story centers around two main characters, a professional assassin and a young girl who has lost her memory. She also happens to be a professional assassin. The young girl has sought out Mariel with hopes that she wil help her recover her lost memory as she seems to be intricately tied to her by certain events. The story leading up to the truth is what is told over the course of the series and it is action packed and mysterious every step of the way. Not only are the story and action scenes throughout the series captive, the music is also very fitting from a few choir led scenes and the prevailing techno type dance music played throughout the series. This series is worth every penny and every second you will invest in it andif you are fan of anime you owe it to yoursel fto see it.

A beautiful anime with a quiet strength.
First of all, I think it is important to note that this anime is NOT for those who enjoy watching blood and gore, or who expect a fast-paced action series; simply because it is about two female assasins. It is one of those shows in which you either love it or hate it. I must confess, the story's plot takes quiet a while to unfold, but that is where its beauty lies. The series keeps you intrigued, always playing with the relationship between Merielle and Kirika. Both protagonists are swept in a mystery that is immensly grand and heavy. The reward is quite simply, watching till the end and solving the mystery with them. The greatest asset is, by far, the music, powerful and heartwrenching at the same time. It sets the tone for the entire series, appropriately matching the scenes with interesting, powerful chour odes or gentle piano peices. I found that as the series went on, the music became more and more dynamic and "multi-layered". The art is quite special in its own right. I found I loved the painted street scenes the most, and I thought it interesting to see an "anime" perspective of France, Paris among other things. However, one cannot help but become slightly bored with Merielle ALWAYS dressed in her red shirt and mini skirt. Overall it is a thrilling drama with stylish, gun shooting fight scenes. I'm not one for blood and extreme violence, but I found it to be at a perfect level. The characters are endlessly fascinating, with multi-layered motives. All togethor, this makes for an extremly tasteful series with music and subplots that may surprise you. Certainly not a fast paced series, but perfect when you feel tense and want to relax. Then again, this is just my opinion as a fan. Or mabye I just enjoy seeing girls with guns. I do beleive that it is a very underated series. I will let you watch it, and let you decide for yourselves. Very simply, Noir, is something to treasure and appreciate.
