David C. Tilley - Nov 30 2005 Rating: Wonderful! Stop thinking and buy this! I can't recommend this series enough. At first I thought it was just going to be some cutsey anime that a friend recommended to me. Then I watched it and found it to be SUPER cutsey...Also possibly one of the funniest anime series I have ever had the privelage to see. I just enjoyed the character interactions and the over the top actions of some of the characters. I'm not sure what draws me to this anime but I know I've been made a life-time fan. I thought it was one of the best shows i have ever seen, and it is. I love all the humor this has, how all the characters have different personalties but are the best of friends in a wacky way, and how the teachers are just as crazy as they are. Like the guy above said, its super cutsey, but i love shows like that, i especially like when one of the characters reveals that she was never cute thats why she likes cute things, i could relate to that, yep, sounds pretty gay but im not, im a full blown heavy metal guy, i just have lots of different interests,anyway if you like cutesy stuff, comedy or just looking for something fun check it out, youll probably like it even if your not into cutesy stuff. It is so incredible! The comedy in it is great, and the characters, however cute or cool or utterly bizzare they are, allow you to get easily attached. Whenever I watch the last episode I get sad because I don't want it to end! Peter Giese - Mar 30 2007 ptrgiese@yahoo.com Rating: Wonderful! Anime that changes life What can I say about "Azumanga Daioh", one of my favorite animes of all time. A lot of reasons. It is awful!...Naw, I'm just playin'. This anime is so heart felt, humorous, and a lot of high school antics. The animation, storyline, & cast is flawless, plus it makes you learn something. I've been comparing this to another anime, "Cromartie High". "Cro High" is an all-boy/delinquet anime with an unorthodox cast, while "Azumanga Daioh" consists of an all-girl star cast, with the addition of some cats. For those who have read this review and seen both animes, give me a reply on who is better, "Daioh" or "Cro High"? If you can, then give me a reply. (This thing works if you seen both "cromartie High School" and "Azumanga Daioh" very clearly.) In short, this anime is a 100% surefire classic. A slice of life story about the good times and the great times between friends Azumanga Daioh as an anime series is a great series to introduce others into the world and joy of anime. Each episode can primarily for the most part are not strictly intertwined and would allow for anyone to jump into the story at almost anytime, unlike series such as Naruto. Dawn Wise - Feb 27 2009 Rating: Not all that good. Wonderful? I Wish it Had Been After reading the previous reviews I bought this anime with high hopes. Unfortunately, my hopes were dashed. While there were some funny moments, they were few and far between. There were far too many times I found myself wondering how anyone could come to the conclusion that this anime is wonderful. Boring was closer to the mark. It seemed like there were a lot of situations that were set up to be funny that, in my opinion, merely fell flat. The main characters were a mixed bunch that represented many personality types. Some I did develop a liking for, Miss Sakaki and Chio chan especially, but one girl, whom I nicknamed Loudmouth, was insensitive and irritating to the nth degree while a certain male teacher was pretty much a creepy pervert. The latter episodes, to my mind, were better and I'll admit that the episodes dealing with the girls impending graduation were touching but for the most, I think I wasted my money. Steven R. The antics are clean and anyone can enjoy it. jackson a. wine - Oct 22 2009 osakafan@verizon.net Rating: Wonderful! school girl awsome comedy If you like comedies school girls or anything fun buy this. this is my favorite series,for these type of shows none do it better than azamanga!everyone will have a favorite character(can you guess mine?)from opening to ending it is a joy to watch,my only complaint?it ended!Once more you can learn a lot about japanese culture threw watching Aza' I watched each episode at least ten times and for me it was enjoyable in both english dub and japanese!next to laura baily ,kira vincent davis and jessica boone are my favorites!my only question is...when are they coming out with more? art 9.0 voice/dub 10.0 music 8.5 story 10.0 replay 10.0 |
