Gantz Season 1 DVD Box Set (Hyb)
Anime Captive - Jan 11 2007 Rating: Pretty good! Really interesting, darkly humourous. This is an extremely entertaining series,and it got me hooked on the second episode. After that it really took off... Gantz really moves good in the beginning, unfortunately to lack of planning of the Gantz producers, the anime was not able to be held back to match the releases of the manga episodes. Gantz is very intriguing and makes you wonder who, what, and where it's from. Gantz, even though it is technologically advanced, appears to be a bit senile too and makes some very strange mistakes. The characters are intriguing and a new set of characters is almost set up every moment due to the harsh learning curve of the situation (live through the mission or die trying...)that they are put in. The aliens the characters have to fight against appear harmless, and will probably make you laugh at first when you see them. That is... until they get attacked... Gantz likes to leave them a few surprises about the creatures they fight against apparantly. I've still yet to purchase the second set, but I'm sure its going to be pretty entertaining as well. It will be a bit slow at times due to the fact the Anime was able to be released much faster than the manga (which provides more stories...), but this is a worthwile look. This was great..Watched one and could'nt wait to see the next though episode 10 kind of threw me off a little. I hope more will be out soon to help me understand what happened.. Michael E. Taylor - May 4 2008 Rating: Pretty good! Interesting, but for some it can be offensive. So the first season of Gantz holds the first 13 episodes, and while very captivating, brutal, and exciting, it can be offensive to some. Besides that fact many people have complained about the pacing of the show, stating that it is very slow. I do agree that it takes multiple episodes to get one thing accomplished, but I don't think it hurts the series severely. I think the best aspect of the show is its premise, the overall idea is pretty cool, but not executed totally efficiently. Instead of sexually driven cursing maniacs, the show could have implemented more emotionally driven characters we actaully would care about. While the main character's sexual fantasies can get annoying, there are more how should I say "noble" characters in the show. While not one of the best shows I've ever seen it is worth a watch, but not if your one to take offense to nudity, violence, and profanity. I'd say this show is for hardcore anime fans only or if your into series of the violent type. |
