I love this series!
This is a great series and I highly reccomend it! ^_^ I isn't a very funny series, it's more of a tragic-drama-romance-action flic. It's pretty long, but the complex characters make it well worth the length. If you don't like Hitomi (the main character) don't worry, many don't. But there are tons of other characters in the series that make it worth while. If you are intrested in this series because of the manga... it's pretty much an entirely different story.. :P The movie is also a different story, but it is well worth checking out as well, although many Folken fans don't like it. It is beautifully done, and the soundtrack is great too!

This is anime is Great!!!!
What can I say that would gives this anime justice??? Well, to me this anime is a great robot like anime... I love robot anime and Escaflowne did not let me down. This is a great anime with a good solid plot. I would recommend to anyone to watch it buy it and then love it.... All of my friends which have watched it have loved it (and they are not big anime fans either). Even my girlfriend loved it, and she really likes the anime like fruits baskets and his and her circumstances (which are good), so i knew this anime was worth it all... If you ever hear anything bad about this anime it would only be that someone didn't like a particular character in it.. For instance Hitome the main girl character in this is kind of eh... not good not bad just there... AAA+++ anime and the movie for Escaflowne is also worth watching... I haven't really said anything besides this anime is good, and thats bc I don't want to ruin it for anyone, so just go out rent it, buy it, borrow it, but just watch it you won't be wasting your time....

Best Kawamori since Macross!
I may be massacring the way Kawamori spells his name, but I seriously think this is his best work outside of the Macross series I've seen (original Macross, Macross Plus, Macross Plus: The Movie) that he's been involved with. Escaflowne: The TV series takes the viewer into a fantasy world envelopes the viewer. Frankly, I felt the TV series developed the characters and was more emotionally involving than the movie adaptation. My advice: if you REALLY want to see Escaflowne as it's meant to be seen, skip the film... It suffers from the same problems as many theatrical adaptations of Japanese TV series -- it tries to compress TOO many plot points into two hours and forgets the character relationships and developments that made the TV series so memorable in the first place. Sure, the Movie IS drawn a bit better (not that much better, though) and has better coloring, but the characters feel flat and don't have the time to develop in the time frame allotted in the movie. Seriously, Escaflowne: The Movie is explosions and violence minus the bulk of the pathos that makes the TV series work well. Frankly, I think Escaflowne: The TV series is twenty times better than the Escaflowne: The Movie and fantasy fans will be missing out on quite a bit should they decide to skip the TV show to spend fewer bucks on the Movie. The Escaflowne TV box set is a real steal now for the money Right Stuf is charging... For $144, you're essentially getting the last 3 volumes of Escaflowne for FREE on top of a decent Limited Edition figure!

Escaflowne is the best!
I seen Escaflowne about 3 yrs ago and I am still in love with it. A friend of mine let me borrow her tapes to watch it and I was so fascinated by the the ginat mechas, the fighting, the fantasy. I dont care much for giant mecha anime but Esca is my favorite so far.

Likeable, Fun, and Deeply Arousing
Basically I bought The Vision of Escaflowne not knowing what I was getting myself into. The entire reasoning behind my purchase was that I'd seen a preview on another Anime video for the series and thought it was just astonishing! I was very pleased to find out I was right. If you are looking for a unique Anime filled adventure with unusual characters, technologies, story-lines then Escaflowne is for you. I am planning on buying Gasaraki because it looks just as neat as Escaflowne did when I saw the preview. I also think I'll be checking out Rouroni Kenshin but that's gonna cost some money.

In short buy this because you'll love everything about it, especially when the series gets farther along.
