Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: The Laughing Man DVD (Hyb)

Just watch the entire TV series, it's much better.
This is a not so amazing, pieced together movie, of what is otherwise an outstanding TV series. I've never been a fan of attempting to condense the plot a 26 episode series into a 160 minute movie, having said all that, this is not really a bad attempt. The movie hits all the major plot points of the series without making it feel rushed, and manages to move along at a nice pace. If you just can't afford to buy the TV series than this is a way to get the gist of the story.
Some other thoughts. If you enjoyed the English dubs of all the other movies and both the TV series then prepare for disappointment. For whatever reason Bandai, (and I blame this on Bandai, not Manga because Bandai's done it before,) decided to use an entirely different voice cast, and to anyone used to the original cast it makes the film unwatchable. If you like the subtitled version, or can make yourself watch it, this is not an issue. Having criticized the vocal choices Bandai made, the dub would work fine for those who haven't seen Ghost in the Shell before.
To wrap it all up, if you're a Ghost in the Shell fan, don't bother buying this unless you happen to be a completest, (in which case should already own the U.K. version of Innocence,) like me. If you just want a quick jaunt through the Ghost in the Shell World, this'll do, and if you're a total noob to Ghost in the Shell I guess this isn't that ba-- No buy the TV series instead.

Rating: This sucked!
Disgusting substitution of Canadian voice actors for original Texans. Clip show with the very heart and soul cut out. GITS:SAC for Dummies!
