Tenchi Muyo Ryo Ohki DVD Box Set (Hyb)

It has all the characters and some new ones. Being a fan, you'll notice some of the voice actors are different. The animation is pretty good and the voice actors put emotion into their character. The anime gets a little confusing towards the end but it's okay to watch. I recommend this for fans of Tenchi but if your just starting to watch the series, you might want to start with the OVA. Finally a sequel to the original OVA If you are a fan of Tenchi Muyo then you are in for a treat because this is not just another movie or TV series this is a REAL sequel to the Original OVA (if you haven't seen the Original OVA which is just called Tenchi Muyo you must see this first or this one won't make any sense to you). The Original OVA was hand drawn but this sequel is all computerized animation and at first will get a little use to but you will come to appreciate the work they put into it because the animation is so sharp looking rather than the hand drawn soft and fuzzy style. The Good Stuff: Crazy and whacked out this really starts to answer questions we have had about Tenchi's parents and grandparents backgrounds plus some big surprises about little Washu (the mad scientist) and a cast of new characters popping in and out. There is so much going on in this and so much info being presented that you will have to watch this several times to catch everything (like we get to meet Tenchi's Grandmother...what a shocker) and don't forget his long lost older sister and his new fiancee, Noike (I told you alot happens in this!!). I've seen some other reviews on this and people aren't taking their time when they watch this and being able to handle all this info at one time (so plan on watching it a couple of times - especially after you've had a hard day at work and want to see someone who has had a worst day than you - that would be Tenchi because he is getting mentally and emotionally beat up in this one big time. The Bad Stuff: Very disappointing is that they changed the English voice actor who played Ryoko(the Space Pirate and daughter of Washu) why they did this I will NEVER know. Overall if you are a Tenchi Muyo fan then don't miss this sequel to the original OVA. |
