EH This show has become very popular so i had to check it out so i bought the hole series. And i have to say i was a little disopointed the animamation is good some times like the fighting scenes are good but some times it looks like there style is very old> Its like the went to 2 different studios and the second style is like from the 80s the story is good but how it ends is well okay the finaly evil dude aint evil enough music very good though. Joshua S. DahL - Aug 29 2002 dthereaper@aol.com Rating: Wonderful! I was In Awwh within the first five minutes... This is simply a spectacular new series to come to viewing that I have seen recently. It made me think of Vampire Hunter D/Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust mixed with Cowboy Bebop or Outlaw Star. Within the first five minutes I couldnt stop watching. The way Alicard acts, the plot itself, and The Overall animation is superb. One of the best Ive seen Ever as Yet. The Battle in the third episode just made things go even further into how increadable this story is. Even after he walks around with knives sticking out of him and puts a bullet into the priests head. This is a definite buy and Favorite in my collection now. I cant wait for the other episodes to arrive in availabilty of purchase and arrival. C B. O - Dec 17 2002 OgieDoggie@aol.com Rating: Wonderful! This is not your average vampire movie - something new! Finally someone has given us a breath of fresh air in an old story line. This is set in the present but has that Gothic feel to it. Arucard (the main vampire) has class and power and style and great character development potential. Also Victoria Seras aka "Police Girl" brings something new to the story as she has to get use to her new powers as a vampire (once again giving us some great character development potential). If they can keep up the quality of the storyline and character development in the next 3 DVD's then this could be the big hit for 2002 and put it up within the 20 best Anime's of all time. Robert B. Krause - Jan 1 2003 rkrause@ycp.edu Rating: Wonderful! Very engrossing action packed story, HOWEVER..... First and foremost Hellsing is a very well done anime. It has wonderfully devilish and maniacal characters like Alucard and Paladin Anderson. The fights are not only bloody enough to rival Berserk, the firefights also rival Trigun. The animation and music are top notch and the story is very in depth. I found myself very engrossed from the start and couldn't wait to get through the rest of the series. However although the anime is very well done it has two major shortcommings. First of all the series is based on only four volumes of Manga and the series is only 13 episodes making it end too soon. The series also ends with many unresolved issues. Alucards past is never fully fleshed out, Ceres never makes a choice about her vampiric nature, the battle between the Vatican and Hellsing is never resolved, and the relationship between Alucard and Ceres is never developed enough. The end is very open and ambigious leaving room for a sequal. However no sequal is in the works or likely to be made. There is no more material to be animated and no plans to make more have been announced or hinted at. I did like Hellsing very much but the ending did disappoint me, then again the series can't be blamed for the lack of more material. Overall I do recomend watching the series but understand that the ending won't explain many buring issues and there isn't much hope for a continuation of the show. Very Entertaining I really enjoyed this anime, I went ahead and took a chance and bought this anime without seeing a episode first or reading any reviews, and I have to say im glad I did. The dvd goes by way to quick mostly because it is only 3 episodes long but also cause its very entertaining. Jon Hodson - Apr 2 2005 Rating: Not all that good. Don't waste your money. Far weaker opening to the series than the manga, bad voice acting, bad character adaptation, bad story adaptation, EXTREMELY toned down violence, need I go on? They even changed the main character's name; how they got Arucard from Alucard is beyond me. Seriously, take your twenty six bucks and buy two (or three) volumes of the manga, you won't regret it. |
