Black Jack is ill. The good doctor has come down with a condition that might force him into retirement and the medical world is now on bated breath as they wait to hear whether Black Jack will ever return to the operating table again. With his nerves shot and his confidence at an all time low, is there a doctor capable of treating Black Jack? Or will the underworld have to find another scalpel-for-hire to do their miracle work?
While in Paris Black Jack is witness to a horrible jet accident. The doctor is called to the scene to treat the wife of a passenger. The woman has burns over most of her body, but even with her life on the line, her concerns are for her child, also aboard. With her husband presumably dead, she can't consider living without her child and Black Jack soon realizes he has more than one operation to preform... especially when the child found is not the same one Mrs. Barin described.
