X/1999 DVD (Hyb)
Tasayu Tasnaphun - Jul 18 1999 Thailander@msn.com Rating: Wonderful! An Excellent transition from Manga to Movie X 1999 the Movie was an astonishing film. The attention to detail and color were supurb and the treatment of the story was quite impressive, especially since the original manga story lasted over 10 issues. In anycase X the Movie showed off both the style and feel of CLAMP quite well. It would rank up there with such recent Anime Titles like "Ghost in the Shell", "Macross Plus", and "Ninja Scroll" in it's animatation and presentaion. 2 Thumbs up!! FireTasuki - Oct 17 1999 FireTasuki@AOL.com Rating: Not all that good. Looks great, tastes bad. I have to admit... the animation in this movie was GREAT!!!! The smoothness of animations beats even Akira and Ghost in the shell, and the art is great, but the movie was AWEFUL!!! I seemed like the first hour and 20 minutes of the movies was all the same thing... :"Kamui help us. The world will end if you don't. Blah blah. Kamui help us. The world will end if you don't. Blah blah. Kamui help us. The world will end if you don't. Blah blah." As you can see, it got VERY old VERY fast. And then when the action starts... SWOOSH!!! It's gone? What happened!! Anyways, I've watched this movie cause of the GREAT animation. I really don't like CLAMP or their "furry bug-eyed freaky" art style either. I rate this one a 2 outta 10. It's animation was its only saving grace. Athey Nansel - Jan 1 2000 ayame@bakaneko.com Rating: Wonderful! Perfect for fans of CLAMP... but... I absolutely Loved this movie, however I have also been a long-time fan of the manga as well. I can garuntee that anyone who has no prior knowledge of this movie's story would probably have to watch it 3 times before even beginning to understand all that is going on. It's intense graphics and animation make it a supurb choice for fans of the darker styles of anime. However people who wince at the sight of decapatated heads, and a lot of death may not want to watch this. Dan Darty - Mar 12 2001 darty@cybermax.com Rating: Wonderful! Awesome! No kiddy collectable stuff here! True anime at it's best. If you only buy one anime title this year....make it "X"! If you like: 3x3 Eyes Fists of the Northstar Urosukidoji you'll love "X"! slacker l. 101 - Feb 19 2002 Rating: Not all that good. nice but strange the movie its self has great animation but thats the only good thing about it. The story is confusing I read that there is a manga but have not read it my self makes understanding the movie frustrating. If this is your 1st glimps in the world of X expect to have a confused expression on your face Kenshin Himura - Aug 3 2002 wingzero1234@hotmail.com Rating: Pretty good! Good, But.... this movie was pretty good, the Tv series is like 100 times better, i seen the tv series before i watched the movie so, thats why i didnt like it that much, the Tv series is strictly based off the manga. Krause - Dec 15 2003 rkrause711@hotmail.com Rating: This sucked! The end of the world is comming unfortunately not fast enough What do you get when you take a top notch storyline that still isn't finished add a group of great characters but take away their respective personalities and kill them off faster than you can count them? You get X the movie. I have a great love for the X manga and the tv series which follows the original story with faithfullness which is why I was so disgusted with this abomination. X the movie takes a great story which at the time was still not finished and tries to tell it in 90 min while taking great host of characters stripping them of their unique personalities and before you know it they are all dead. And what you are left with is a movie with a beautiful exterior and a hollow souless interior. I'm glad I was able to view this movie to get the expeience under my belt but make no mistake this is not a movie that is worthy of one's collection. If you are interested in X/1999 I suggest you read the manga or collect the tv series which is a thousand times more interesting than this schlock. Not something I would reccomend, and by the way what's up with all the severed heads? Kenshiro Northstar - Feb 17 2004 Rating: Not all that good. Not impress at all I watched many animations before, but this is not one of those that impress me. The idea is very good. You have 2 different groups of people trying to fight for a different world. But this story lacks character development. Maybe it's because there is too much storyline to cramp into 2 hours. The fighting scene is "ok" and the ending is "disappointing". In conclusion, they did an excellent building up the climax and get you all hyped up and wondered what is going to happen next. However, they fail to deliver that excitment. Vampire Hunder D "Bloodlust" will blow this animation away. roosevelt colston - Feb 14 2006 theone_92277@yahoo.com Rating: This sucked! what the heck is this? This anime was the worse ive seen in years, the plot just picked up out of nowhere, i was like, "whats going on here?" I fell asleep at the beginning because it was so boring and then had to watch it again to fully understand, but i still managed to fal asleep. IF you'd like a title that will induce sleep, this is the one to get. By all means, dont waste your money otherwise! seiryu seven - Sep 4 2006 armyofcubans23@hotmail.com Rating: This sucked! if you wanna go to sleep then buy this one this anime depsite all its raving reviews sucked to the absolute fullest. I fell asleep three times trying to watch the beginning in which it seemed to lag on even further. I don't recommend this to anyone. It made no sense at all. |
