sheala bacon - Oct 14 2007 Rating: Wonderful! Hilarious Ninja Antics This one definitely goes on the 'buy soon' list. I love a good farce and this is a great romp through ninja anime. No matter how bad your mood when you start watching this, you'll be laughing by the time you're done. The episodes are short and sweet and easy to watch again and again. You'll have to so you can catch all the jokes. Right Stuf has done a great job with the English production. Plus you know, there's a talking crocodile. j green - Jan 12 2009 Rating: This sucked! What's all the fuss about? I'll just come out and say it-I hated this. The humour was rancid, the characters were as generic as they come, the plot cliched- it wasn't worth my time to watch it B W. Boddy - Jul 10 2010 Rating: Wonderful! WAY,WAY better than I thought it was going to be!! WAY,WAY better than I thought it was going to be!! What a gem of an Anime this is, I can not believe it’s was only 12 episodes long, That is way to short. I’ve seen some really good Anime with only a 12 or less episode run, and some real bombs that dragged on and on for 24 or more episodes. “Ninja Nonsense” DIDN'T RELY on "Fan Service",(but there is some) it tried this new thing called humorous dialog, and one liners that didn’t insult our intelligent, instead it counted on it. ( Oh and sight gags -A- plenty ) I tell you to me it seems like too many Anime’s that are rated MA or higher are aimed at people that are (suppose to be) too young to watch them. I’m glad this wasn’t one of those. After I gave up for good trying to watch "Excel Saga"<<-((sorry I just couldn't take it any longer, or else my ears would've started to bleed!)) I'm glad I decided to watch "Ninja Nonsense" it made me feel better, but now it's over and I wish there was more. The ending credits animation is to die for, It’s funny, funny, funny, I watched it every time before skipping the DVD to the next episode. John A. Callahan - Nov 2 2010 johncallahan@comcast.net Rating: Wonderful! Had me laughing out loud! I finished this series about a week ago and it still makes me smile to remember some of the scenes. Firstly, when they titled this nonsense, they were being accurate. Don't look for plot continuity or even much ninja action. Instead, you will be seeing two vignettes per episode involving the super-cute ninja trainee Shinobu, her "more than a friend, less than a lover" GF Kaede, Ninja-mentor-flying-yellow-spherical-"being" Onsakumaru, a bunch of grey-clad indistinguishable ninjas (of whom one is named Sasuke)and Shinobu's magical little sister Miyabi, all interacting in various ridiculous and non-ninja-like endeavors. Shinobu is trusting and gullible, Kaede is skeptical, the panty-crazed Onsakumaru is scheming and hysterically funny and fierce Miyabi doles out the punishment. The Japanese voice acting is spot-on with Onsakumaru moody, outrageous and very, very funny. This is the funniest gag anime ever - well worth the investment. I intend to watch it over & over. It's not possible to pick up all the background action by Onsakumaru and the ninjas in one viewing. I love this anime! I inadvertently posted this review on the thinpack version listing, but repeated it here because it all applies. I do want to add that Nozomi has done their typical fabulous job with this complete series release. A booklet with the Production Journal, liner notes, character profiles and other goodies is included with each disk. You also get a little squishy Super Handsome Boy Onsakumaru. This anime will brighten your day! |
