C. Caron - Feb 13 2009 Rating: Wonderful! Big Dango Family Sentai Filmworks best ever anime in my opinion, Made by Kyoto Animation just like Kanon and Air TV. I love everything made by Kyoto Animation, if you like drama animes you would to. 12 episodes on two disks, Widescreen 16:9, Rated TV PG so just about anyone can enjoy this anime. Special Features: Clean opening, closing & trailors Only bad part is that its English Subtitles Only, Japanese Audio 2.0, but the price is well worth it. Andrew J. Richman - Sep 23 2009 Rating: Wonderful! The best anime I have ever seen A few months ago, I was strolling the forums of some random anime site, where I found this topic on recommendations for anime. I was scanning through it when I saw that someone asked what would be a good anime to watch for someone that just finised a then ended Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Someone replied to them and said, "Watch Clannad." I usually don't take recommendations from strangers, but this time I gave it a shot. It was probably the best anime related choice I ever made. The anime is based off a visual novel that came out a few years back in Japan The series is about Tomoya, a troubled teen who, after a fight with his father, leaves him hard and cold spirited to most everyone, especially his father. He is just entering his THIRD year at his high school. Right on the first day, he meets a girl named Nagisa, who is repeating her third year at the school, after being out for most of the last school year with illness. After a series of events, Nagisa and Tomoya become friends and set off to reestablish the school's drama club, meeting a diverse cast along the way. Within the first few minutes of the first episode, I could tell that this was going to be one of those animes that really grabbed your attention, not just with the storyline, but also with the art. I can't stress how amazing the art was. And the fact that the cherry blossoms were falling through the air really made the most basic of scenes beautiful. Also, we are introduced to the 2 main characters, which also let us know just what we were going to deal with for the rest of the series. It is notable, that this series is a very emotional one, but has many laughs along the way. That's another thing I can't stress, as this anime has made me cry and laugh so many times, making Clannad the first anime to do so. I know this was such a short review, but like I said, Im not the greatest for explaining things. This anime just finished up, with 40+ episodes under its belt, and a lasting impression on my heart. I highly recommend this to anyone that thought they knew good anime. A+ |
