Thirteen years have passed since the events of the original Mobile Suit Gundam series. But the foundations of peace are once again threatened by a new Neo Zeon army led by the infamous Char Aznable! While the Earth's reserves of fossil fuels have been depleted, humanity has obtained a new, nearly infinite source of energy to replace them in the form of large-scale solar-powered generation systems based on three huge orbital elevators. However, the benefits of this system are available only to a handful of major powers and their allies. In this world of unceasing conflict, a private armed organization steps forward, declaring their intention to eliminate war through martial force and a series of four high-performance machines dubbed "Gundams."

It is time for the Gundam Meisters to make their second advent, and their new objective is to crush this formidable force of global oppression. Setsuna reappears with his battered Gundam and joins forces with Tieria, who has been working with the remnants of Celestial Being to create a new series of Gundams using their precious solar reactors. As they try to recruit a new member and rescue an old comrade, a revolutionary new machine known as the 00 Gundam is about to awaken.

For months, the Gundam Meisters have been carrying out armed interventions in an attempt to eradicate war from the world. Now a new group known as Team Trinity has appeared, claiming that it is also part of Celestial Being and that it can do the job better. As Team Trinity's Gundam Thrones begin a rampage, mercilessly killing soldiers and civilians alike, Setsuna and his fellow Gundam Meisters find themselves on a dangerous collision course with the newcomers.

Banagher Links, a student at the space colony Industrial 7, rescues a mysterious girl who calls herself Audrey Burne. Audrey is seeking to prevent a war, but it seems she has come too late. As Banagher's home colony is devastated by the attacks of the enemy mobile suit Kshatriya, he finds his strange destiny and is forced to fight in the formidable weapon system known as the Unicorn Gundam.
