It builds towards something, but never arrives
Fun show, very different genre from most anime, no magic, and no lasers or space ships.
I liked it very much after watching the first volume, particularly when I heard Kaytha Coker playing a heroic character instead of her usual psychopath. She has a great voice for barking orders and proclaiming idealistic speaches. Next to the princess of disaster in Pretear, this is my favorite performance by her.
The art is fantastic, the story is gripping, the acting is solid, I even like the music. What I did not like was the lack of a satisfying ending. By the time you get through 24 episodes you expect a few dangling plot treads to be tied up.
Sure the immediate action is over, but all the villans who have been moving in the background since volume one are still in the background, and their ultimate plans are still enigmatic.
This one needed another couple of episodes.

I don't get what other people are saying about this. I watched the whole thing, and I have to say it ended fantastically! From start to finish, this series keeps it very interesting and fresh. I don't want to give away the ending, but I will say this: it kinda reminds me of Cowboy Bebop. It leaves you with just enough to let your imagination run with and figure where the story would go next. Anyroad, I really liked all of it. Buy this one today!

All in all this is a wonderful show it has its problems but was very entertaining! for 22 bucks its worth the watch and I believe it has re watch ability (if that's a word I dunno) If there is a second season this show could be one of the greats and stand with the Legends of Anime.

Rating: Pretty good!
Worth Seeing - Something Different
Worth Seeing - something different The animation style is that of Fullmetal Alchemist BUT the storyline is completely original.
The PUMPKIN SCISSORS unit (named by their 1st Lt.) is part of the war relief effort (as in after a war) which their country has just gone thru. Their mission is help the war refuges as best they can - food, shelter and they also help out in finding and smashing corruption (Govt people holding back on relief supplies and funds or stealing and selling weapons). OK, it may not sound exciting but they make it exciting.
Needless to say that PUMPKIN SCISSORS is an odd name for anything let alone an Anime series.
The (main character) doesn't explain what PUMPKIN SCISSORS means until two thirds of the way thru the series. I think its one of those Japanese things that may not make alot of sense to us but you see a Pumpkin has a very thick skin so it takes a very sharp/tough scissors to cut thru it. Meaning that their special unit is very Tough and Sharp - hey what can I say - its a Japanese thing which is why we like watching Japanese Anime !!
There's also a corporal who was part of an experiment to improve soldiers and he was part of a special Platoon during the war which specialized in destroying tanks with a special single shot pistol...very interesting background story and he does come in very handy for this new team.
Having seen the whole series I rate this between Pretty Good and OK - One of those series that is worth watching but may not be worth keeping in your collection if you know what I mean.
