Gin Tama

Life isn't easy in feudal Japan... especially since the aliens landed and conquered everything! Oh sure, the new health care is great, but the public ban on the use of swords has left a lot of defeated samurai with a difficult career choice! This is especially true if they're not particularly inclined towards holding a day job, which is why Gintoki Sakata's opted for the freelance route. Unfortunately, in a brave new world filled with stray bug-eyed montsters, upwardly mobile Yakuza, and overly ambitious E.T. entrepreneurs, those jobs usually don't pay as well as they should for the pain, suffering, and indignities endured!

Unfortunately for our favorite group of Freelance Oddballs, they're usually underemployed, which besides making them UFOs, means that they have to take just about every job they can find. Escorting a runaway princess? Check. Driving a cab? Check. Cross-dressing samurai bar? Swallow the pride and check.

Space cockroaches? Shepherding senile fireworks masters? Building snowmen? In a world where aliens run feudal Japan, no job is too strange or bizarre for Gintoki's Odd Jobs agency - which is a good thing, because things only get stranger and more bizarre as their reputation grows.

Things get really crazy... that is, crazier than usual... when Kagura's father shows up in Edo to visit his daughter. Oh, and he's also in town to take on the deadly alien menace that he might be on the trail of. When the yakuza takes on aliens, who will lose? The innocent bystanders of course. Needless to say, Kagura's associates respond to her possible (and not particularly voluntary) exit from the franchise in predictable fashion: by trying to grab female lead status for themselves.

In the world of Gin Tama, history takes a wrong turn: samurai in this alternate Japan must live alongside aliens - not to mention guns, TVs, cars, and spaceships. Sakata "Gin" Gintoki is a goofy former samurai who'll take on any odd job to make ends meet. His greatest wish is to protect Japan from yakuza and dishonorable aliens, and return Japan to its former glory - all with a wooden sword!

Gin's "Five Things They Don't Teach You in Samurai School" List: 1. Gold can be found in the strangest places (not always up your nose). 2. Talking smack to a blind swordsman is NEVER a good idea. 3. Stomping on giant beetles the size of small cars is both messy and really dangerous. 4. When the scariest thing in your haunted house is one of your customers, just pack up and go home for the day. 5. Just because your date has cat ears doesn't necessarily mean she's an alien.
