Absolutely Hilarious - a must see
I've been wondering when this would finally come out here in the USA. This is all about a Buddhist Temple full of High School girls and oh yes one High School boy. Sounds like the old Harem Anime setup but NOT this time around because all the girls in the Temple dislike him except for one who does like him but every time he looks the wrong way she kicks his butt and he doesn't even feel anything for her.
Now all the kids are in this Temple are there to learn how to control the spiritual gifts they have so they can fight demon spirits in their own way and as a team. Now our one Male student is the most powerful but he has the most trouble controlling it and it only comes out of him when he is sexually aroused...remember he lives with nothing but girls and makes the mistake of walking into the bathroom when they are bathing and stuff like that - needless to say lots of fan service in this one). Each episode either looks at one of the students and what her gift is or something else in their lives so it is an interesting story and a lot of fighting of some perverted demon spirits too which makes it even more funny. Also they all go to the same High School so a lot of stuff happens there too.
This contains BOTH seasons 1 and 2 so it is a real bargain because the SECOND Season is even more hilarious and goes more in depth about the youngest girl's little demon who rides on her shoulder. Both Seasons are a MUST SEE you will not be disappointed.

Good humored “FAN SERVICE” in the best sense!!
I Just finished with “Ah my Buddha” collection.. Ah,ah,ah, what a great little series that was. I had just watched “Ninja Nonsense” just before "Ah my Buddha", I loved that one too, I couldn’t help but watch the Japanese end credit animation of Ninja Nonsense every time, the guys at Robot Chicken would give it a 10 out of 10 I’m sure. plus thats one heck of a catchy tone that goes along with it. SOOO.. I was all primed up for a comedy like "AH MY BUDDHA" and it made me feel better about Ninja Nonsense being only 12 episodes long.
"Ah my Buddha" had it’s own little , and I think genius spin to what could have been just another lite hearted , but funny little, full of “FAN SERVICE “ comedy . But the way they got Ikkou to “UN-LEASH” his power is priceless. As far as quote -FAN SERVICE- unquote, “Ah my Buddha” did it right. I don’t think you can really go any further with the fan service in the - teenager comedy type series - and keep it as funny and in, “GOOD TASTE” like “Ah my Buddha” did.
two thumbs up!!

Rating: Not all that good.
Disappointing. A showcase of animation shortcuts.
The harem anime genre, by its very nature, isn’t prone to producing masterpieces. However, there are far better harem titles than Ah My Buddha. Repetition, a mediocre script and a lack of comedic timing dull most of the humor. Too bad - the premise had potential and the character designs were solid. The second season is marginally better.

Wonderful - as long as you watch it in Japanese with english subtitles
I had originally watched this in Japanese with English subtitles. After a year I went back and watched it in English - Needless to say the English voice acting is NOT very good in this one at all, they seem to be off in their timing making the comedy flat. So I HIGHLY recommend that you watch this in the original Japanese with English subtitles, the Japanese voice actors just do a better job (there have been a lot of anime out there that this seems to be true of - as another example "The Familiar of Zero" has bad English voice acting too).
