a masterpiece
wow, it's about time that this series gets a dvd release and hopefully viz will finish it this time. out of all the animes i've seen and have, this is still my favorite. not as good as the manga but still great. it was a hard choice as to which one i love more maison ikkoku or eva and in the end ikkoku won out. if you've never seen or heard about maison ikkoku give it a try. it's older than most animes out today but it is still a timeless masterpiece. hopefully viz will not only release all 96 episodes of the tv series but, maison ikkoku the movie, and the ovas as well.

One of the Best Series of All Time
Don't miss out on the chance to see Maison Ikkoku, as it is truly one of the best series ever created. It's good to see it being released on DVD.

Maison Ikkoku, Maison Ikkoku!!
I've seen the entire series (1 to 96) on imported dvds (not Japanese). All I can say it was like a good book, did'nt want to stop until I saw the credits roll on the last episode. Yasaku Godai and Kyoko Onatashi are the best romance going on anime, bar none. This is billed as a romantic comedy but it's more like romance with a little comedy thrown in for good measure. Rumiko Takahashi is one of my favorite artists. Maison Ikkoku is a classic, and it richly deserves that status. I could say a lot more about MI but I would be repeating what has been said on many MI websights. All I gotta say is experiance MI yourself, I promise you that it is probally the best anime experiance you'll ever have!!

I rate this between Pretty good and Okay for the record!
From the creator of Ranma ½ and Inuyasha (Rumiko Takahashi) comes one of her early creations. This is a story of a young widow (about 23 years old) who runs a boarding house. One of her boarders is a college student who winds up falling in love with her but she only see’s him as an immature student (which he is!).

Now author Rumiko Takahashi’s formula for Ranma and Inuyasha is the old “Diamond in the Rough” storyline – Male character is good at heart but rough around the edges and needs a woman to polish up those rough edges.

But in this story you don’t feel for the Male character because he’s sooooo immature! All the other boarders are older and you can easily relate to them.

It’s still a very enjoyable series if you like Ranma and Inuyasha Style, but be warned – this is a very slow moving series (am surprised that the other people who reviewed this didn’t mention it!).

The most underrated Takahashi anime, but shouldn't be
This anime just doesn't get the credit it really deserves. The relationship between Kyoko, Godai and the rest of the Looney Bunch will have you rollin' in the aisles. Highly recommended anime from beginning to end!
