Vampire Hunter D DVD Special Edition (Hyb)
Byron Myers - Oct 2 2000 Mainman419@aol.com Rating: Wonderful! One of the BEST animated movies ever made! This movie is a little on the old side, but the animation is very fluid and smooth. The first ten minutes are so awesome and gripping that it sets a perfect pace for the film. Hands down one of the best anime movies ever made. This is the one that got me into anime initially and I think anyone can enjoy it. Oh yeah. it's violent too! hee hee chris - Dec 27 2000 Rating: Wonderful! Cant be beat best ever You must watch this movie. It doesnt get any better than this. Dont try to top it one the best every made. I could say enough good things about this movie. If you are into anime you MUST BUY IT. Graham Hughes - Apr 7 2001 gmhughes74@hotmail.com Rating: Wonderful! More Vampire lore to really confuse the vampiric legends!!! Believe it or not, I first saw this movie on TBS. Yes, Turner Broadcasting System. Why they would show this (as well as Robot Circus) is beyond me, but it introduced me to anime that wasn't, ahem, Akira. I think that people should be warned about this movie. The art is not what most people are accustomed to when it comes to anime. It's not as detail oriented as something like Akira/Ghost in the Shell. It's not 'fun' like Project A-Ko. It's not as soap opera-ish as Robotech/Macross. It doesn't take place in the same period as Record of Lodoss War. And it has more mind behind it than Fist of the North Star. Vampire Hunter D is an awesome movie. The art is best described as 'weird and unusual', the action is great and the characters have more personality than what you get stuck with Fist of the North Star. The age may show with the movie, but it's great fun. There are all sort of new things to learn about vampires and the relation between vampires and other horror creatures of the night are nicely linked. For all those who are D fans, we all want to know about Vampire Hunter D2. Will the art be cleaned up? Will the original voice actors return? Who will D face? What's the next story? This movie just cries out for more adventures of the dark Vampire Hunter. He's quite the hero and quite the fighter. This is a movie that's worth being in your anime collection. Gabriel - Apr 28 2001 martyr_dom@hotmail.com Rating: Wonderful! Oh God! Vampire Hunter D subtitled! Aaauughhh!!!! To put it bluntly... * THIS RULES *!!!!!! Aauugghhh!!! It is nothing less than a religious experience for me to watch this masterpiece in the original Japanese! And all this time i thought that my old Streamline Pictures English dubbed version was cool! Oh God, was i wrong! You need to get this DVD, * NOW *!!!!! Quit reading this and pull out your credit card!!! ^_^ Uh Oh, you're still reading; i guess you need some persuasion. Well then! Vampire Hunter D's artwork and character design are dark, profound and beautiful and just * REEK * of the '80s retro feel { Yeah!!!! ^_^ }, the violence scenes are gratuitiously painful and gory { Pink blood is cool }, the original Japanese dialogue and plot are great... heck, i could go on and on! This was made in the '80s, and that's enough reason to buy it anyway, but Vampire Hunter D happens to be one of the * BEST * animes made during that glorious decade { Well, for the Japanese, anyway }. If you don't like this then it's safe to assume you're part of the pathetic Sailor Moon / Gundam Wing / Dragonball Z crowd who can't tell killer anime from the latest Cartoon Network trend... oh, wait, you can't anyway! Nevermind! ^_^ Andy - Jun 7 2001 mglazier@cinci.rr.com Rating: Wonderful! One of the Best This is the first anime i ever saw besides starblazers and robotech in the 80's when i was a kid. Its the movie that got me into anime. The first sequence is my all time favorite anime scene. I just love Doris creeping through the night with her gun while the electronic goth music(my favorite ever)plays. Theres not alot i can say besides this is a true classic. Lots of fun. I wish there were more creepy, strange gothic\high tech animes out there. Some younger people may think it looks a little dated, but I think it holds up very well. The dvd is great. I was hoping it would be in letter box. Maybe this was a made for japanese tv movie? It seems like all the action fits perfectly into the screen regardless. I love the options of subtitles and languages on the dvd. This was my first anime dvd and its great! Kenshin Himura - Jun 1 2002 wingzero1234@hotmail.com Rating: Wonderful! VHD is awesome! Vampire Hunter D is a very cool and dark anime, The story reminds me of CastleVania, theres alot of action and gore, and a good story that anime fans will like, go out and buy this DVD! tony q. - Aug 11 2002 tranzingerz@yahoo.com Rating: Pretty good! Not special enough for special edition. This title has always been on my favorites list, but there could have been more added to this "special edition" dvd.Like:A behind the scenes of the american voice actors,voice/sound/music test, character bios etc. Give me something to do when i'm done watching the movie! Robert B. Krause - Oct 5 2002 rkrause@ycp.edu Rating: Wonderful! The man, the myth, the legend Vampire Hunter D is without a doubt one of the all time classic anime. You cannot call yourself an otaku without having seen this first. Originaly released back in the mid 80's this was one of the first anime brought to American shores. While the animation is dated this does not detract from the overall enjoyment of the movie. Both the original and dubbed voice acting are great and the soundtrack is hauntingly beautiful. The extras are slim but for such an old piece I can't expect much. It was great to see D's japanese voice actor behind the scenes since he unfortunatly passed away several years ago. To sum it up the story the character designs the soundtrack all wonderful, this should be in any self respecting otaku's library, totally recomended! Danielle > - Jan 31 2003 Wolfwanderer@hotmail.com Rating: Wonderful! Still the Best The summary says it all. Sure, some say 'eww, it's old' but that's one of the things that adds prestige to it. Vampire Hunter D, though a little old, has still managed to snare the hearts of many watchers, from the seasoned vet to the curious newbie that just happens to see it on TV. I've seen both Part 1 & 2, and this one is awesome, even if you don't like 2 (it was kind of stupid with its lovey-dovey vampire/human couple versus super-macho 'Dusk til Dawn' type vampire hunters). But anyway, THIS one is worth trying. You'd do yourself a serious injustice if you didn't at least check it out. Rob B - Sep 17 2004 kokushibyou@msn.com Rating: Wonderful! Awesome Just have to say I own this on vhs and am planning on buying the dvd version as soon as I can afford it, this is the best anime I have ever seen, the sequel is awesome too. Highly recommend this to anyone who likes vampire movies or anime. Cameron E. Bolan - Jun 23 2007 camdog300@htomail.com Rating: Wonderful! I llike Vampires This movie was well done. I loved it from start to finish. I you love the dark hero with a heart then this is a perfect anime. It has a dark hero and he has a heart that is black but filled with love. The action is well done and the charercts fell human even the non-human. I strongly recomend this to anyone that loves gothic-romance. |
