Twelve Kingdoms DVD 7 (Hyb): Reflection Reviews of this title:
M. E. Hammond - Sep 14 2004 Rating: Wonderful! Beautiful, engrossing show just getting better This isn't a flashy, attention-grabbing title. It's probably easiest to compare to Fushigi Yugi since it is an alternate world title about a girl from our world becoming a major player(Queen of one of the lands vs priestess, but it is a much superior, complex product. The world is similar to our, but also totally different, with its own words & laws of science. Yes, I have my favorite characters, but this one is interesting no matter which character is on screen.
Asano's back & Yuji Ueda does an excellent psycho boy--yes, not speaking the language/being able to be understood in a strange land has unhinged the poor boy. Not over the top like many, but obviously out of touch, & it looks like he's going to be important to the plot on the next dvd. The Aouzaru is also back whispering doubts to Youko after the assassination attempt, but she seems to be dealing with him better. She's slumming in a village, trying to learn about the people of her new land to become a better queen.
This one made my 14 yr old cry--something only done by Grave of the Fireflies & Metropolis. It's sort of obvious it's going to happen, but even I thought it wouldn't because of the detail the story went into so it was more--oh, they did. It is a horribly sad chapter in this story. |
