You can relate to these characters from naive Lime to the slapstick antics of Hanagata, all the while the Marionettes learn what emotions really are and how to deal with them. Ben T. Smith - Jun 9 2003 Rating: Wonderful! Wow. That's all I can say. Wow. This is by far one of the best deals I have seen in a long while. For $150(If you pre-order it) you get both seasons of Saber Marionette J, the OVAs, and a nice box set that's apparently signed by the co-creator and character designer. Seeing as how it would costs a little over $300 if you bought all of the DVDs individually, you're getting it at half the cost. Even if you already own the first season and nothing else, you're still getting a good deal here, since it would cost close to $200 to get the second season with the OVAs. So, if you already have the first season's worth of DVDs(Or on VHS, like me) and want to see more, by all means get this set. You can sell your first season or give them to a friend, knowing you're saving yourself quite a bit of money in the long run. My only problem with this release is I have to wait until August for it. Oh, well. At least Sailor Moon Season One's coming out sooner. Whew! Scott A. Early - Oct 27 2004 Rating: Pretty good! Excellent purchase, however not quite what it appears to be. I received this item very quickly, far more quickly than was advertised. However, please note that although the impression given by the description is that the box set is signed, there is a chance that you will not receive a signed copy, as happened to me. There is apparently no way to ensure that you receive a signed copy from rightstuf, nor is there any way in which to return it for a garaunteed signed copy, which would require you to pay for your own shipping and possibly receive another unsigned set. However, if you are not buying this set because of the fact that it is signed by one of the creators, it is still an excellent purchase (coming out to about $23 per series). Rommel B. Degracia - Oct 28 2004 Rating: Wonderful! Review of the content, not the show itself. First off, I'll say that this is an amazing box-set. 14 DVD's in 7 cases with the box art and everything. One small complaint, but my boxset was not signed (as advertized) but it was numbered and the content was intact and everything. So for all of you buying it for the sig, be warned it may not come with one. For those who want the anime, GO FOR IT! I'm personally very happy still though. Anyway, spanning 51 TV episodes (2 seasons/series)and (1) 2-DVD OVA this is a big bang for your buck! That's almost 24 hours people! The quality of the DVD's are pretty good. High VHS, not digitally remastered or anything like that. Yet the sound was redone for Dolby Digital (GO 5.1 speakers!) so that is a definte plus. Menus are easy to navigate, extras are numerous and complete (since you're getting ALL the DVD's) and over all quality is very good! So do I recommend this box-set? Heck yea! Saber Marionette J was one of the first anime's I've ever watched and getting this boxset with both series and the OVA just made me have a BIG grin for a couple of weeks. Its good for all ages, although 'J Again' pushes the envelope a bit with quite a bit of sexual tension. But overall when you're done, you can always let anyone else see any of the TV series. The characters in the anime are great, lovable, and well designed (I still want your signagture Tsukasa Kotobuki!). The storyline(s) is driving and addictive. The whole mood of the whole series is one of those things you end up cherishing. If you want more info on the actual series, there's plenty of other reviews out there. But I hope I've given some insight to what you get with the actual physical box-set. IT IS worth it! Raymond n M. Hein - Jun 8 2005 Rating: Wonderful! Good story, good ending. Very funny and enjoyed every minute of it :) Saber Marionette J Again: B. Not bad :) Saber Marionette J-X: F! Way too much angst, depressing to watch. The ending is just wrong in my mind (I can't explain it or it'll be a huge spoiler bleh). I don't think I'll ever watch J-X again. I'll definately wath the first 2 again though. A must for folks that enjoy comical twist I am selective in my series and enjoy light action fun. All I can say this series is great! x is a little diferent than the other two and voice changes are a little discrening, but over allthe series is very good. Not Rama 1/2, InYuasha or Dual but rewatachable. I enjoyed watching with my grandkids and rewatching again. Agree the plot seems to lage a little in J to X but the ending makes you wanting more. When I saw this box set I immediately bought it excited to see J again and J to X. When I received it though I saw that it was signed and numbered. Now I can't bring myself to open it. Maybe I'll buy the unsigned copies from the people above :) All in all, J is an awesome series. I imagine the other 2 will follow suit. |
