Getting Along in Japanese is a DVD video learning series which presents the Japanese language through familiar daily situations. The setting is a traditional Japanese inn where the hosts teach their guests to communicate using practical and current expressions.
Hosts Katsuya Kobayashi and Kaori Itakura introduce spoken Japanese through carefully dramatized skits designed to help beginning students learn to cope with everyday life in modern Japan.
In Episode Six we visit another restaurant to learn more essential vocabulary and phrases for ordering meals and requesting additional helpings. We are then taught the basic language when speaking to a cashier.
Mr. Kobayashi reviews and explains key grammar and sentence structure presented in the skit. He continues by adding many additional expressions which will be useful when visiting a restaurant.
Kaori then presents photos of signage typically seen in front of, and inside, restaurants and then explains how to order from set menus.
Each DVD can be viewed straight through or in separate chapters, allowing access to individual segments for helpful repetition and easy learning.
